10 cm dermoid cyst

Posted , 4 users are following.

I have a dermoid cyst thats about 10 cm all around. Ive had a cat scan and ultra sounds done, Ive seen a surgeon about it. Im just getting nervous he seemed very relaxed and seemed to brush off my severe nausea and vomitting and constipation for monthes now, so much so that i have last about 15 to 20 pounds. And im small to begin with. Also i cant get comfortable at night because of constant cramping and sometimes it radiates down my lower back and into my legs. This hasnt happened before this thing started bothering me. Im worried its something more. I started bleeding a week before my due period with clots and stuff doctor again seemed unconcerned. My left over is blocked completely by the cyst its putting pressue on my bladder so im all around uncomfortable should i get a second opinion or is what im feeling normal? ( doctor also told me my symtoms must be totally unrelated) so im totally confused

    Hi there,

What's happening about your cyst? Surely they are removing it due to its size and the fact that it is dermoid?

Sorry to hear that you are feeling unwell, your symptoms (apart from nausea) are very much like mine. I am on the waiting list for surgery to remove my cyst but there is a 'doubt' over whether mine is dermoid or not, I was told in Oct that it was dermoid but then after an mri in Dec the word hemorrhagic was mentioned the gynea said to me that 'oh this cyst will have gone', I have known about my cyst since 2010 so i'm 99% sure it's the same one and very slow growing (3cm 2010, 3.5 2016 and 4.5 2017)

I have another scan on monday and i'm petrified of the outcome, I think i'm more scared that it has gone because then i'm back to sqaure one with what's wrong with me!

Keep fighting though, i've had too.

    Good luck!!

    Hi, Gemini

I also have a 10cm dermoid cyst on my left ovary that is partially twisted plus a 5cm cystadenofibroma on my right ovary. I saw my gynaecologist yesterday for MRI results. He had me down to book me in for surgery to remove both ovaries and fallopian tubes due to being admitted about 2 months ago with agonising pain which has eased off but still get severe bloating, pressure, discomfort, lower backache, bladder and bowel issues, nausea and fullness quickly after a couple of mouthfuls of food. He has now decided because my pain has eased regardless of my other symptoms that he wants to wait for 6 months then review it unless my pain comes back then I have to go in via A&E and he will review it then instead! Was also told quite rudely that I don't have cancer as CA125 came back clear so there was no rush to remove them! Feel so let down as had these symptoms for years but was just told it's IBS which has now been proved it isn't but just when I thought I was getting sorted out I feel like I've had the door slammed in my face. So disheartening! Not sure wheter it's worth getting a second opinion or how you'd go about it. Hope you get sorted out soon though x

Why are the NHS so slow at removing these dermoid cysts?

Seems to me like more and more people are getting the surgery put 'on hold', think I need to prepare myself!

Haven't a clue but think it's disgusting! Thought they went by the 5cm rule but obviously not anymore! Seems I have to be doubled up screaming in agony before mine are removed! I have a few friends in the same boat too. One eventually had a hysterectomy last December after being put on hold for 2 years! I was only diagnosed with my cyst in February this year so looks like I'm in for a long wait. 😐

I really think its terrible, I will let you know how I get on on Monday.

All I know it is that i'm dreading the outcome but also i'm so anxious to get on with it, i'm desperate to know if my cyst is still there (i'm 99% sure it is!) as i'm only in doubt since the gynae said it had 'probably' gone.

Errr thats so frusteratingg, im so sorry. I do have a scheduled surgery for over a month away, however it sounds like thats a much better result then you ladies. Im so sorry.

Its starting to get to me feeling like they arent listening to how i feel. I just worry that theres other things wrong , because of the weight loss and nausea. But maybe its just me being anxious about all of it.

Its so frusterating to know theres this niche in healthcare that is totally untouched, no one knows how to exactly answer to these things. Or what exactly the symtoms are..

Hi its good to hear that you have surgery scheduled. I will be going to talk with my GP in a couple of weeks and will have a chat with them to see if they can hurry things along for me as I need someone to look after my daughter when I go in and her dad lives 200 miles away so if I end up going in via an emergency I'm stuck to find someone to look after my daughter especially if she's in school at the time I need to go in. Really need to have a plan in place for surgery. Making me sick with worry! My pain usually is worse when my period is due, which is due this weekend when I'm around some of my family so will be ok if I need to go to hospital but they are all busy in the week and cant take time out of work at the moment apart from weekends 😡

Hope all goes well for you when you have your surgery. Let us know how it goes 😊
