10 weeks on Sertaline 50mg - anxiety still here

Hi, I am 10 weeks on 50mg of Sertraline, taking it in the evening. Most of the side effects are now gone but I am still sweating unbelievably and especially during the night. My mood is amazing but the anxiety is still here unfortunately and low self esteem feeling. In terms of my mood, this is a miraculous medicine. But not sure if I maybe need higher dose to regulate the anxiety? Or shall i keep going? Any ideas?

hi maria, if youve still got anxiety id say increase by 25 mg, try it for 2-3 weeks, if you still have anxiety increase again and so on. when you hit the right dose for you it will just click, youll realise you feel good ALL of the time! check with your doc before increasing of course.

the sweating...are you peri menopausal or menopausal by any chance? im thinking night sweats/hot flushes? if not, mention it to your doc if you think its a side effect of sertraline

The night sweats for me was also the last side affect to go away. Dont worry about it too much.
If your anxiety is still there, give it another 7 days and then go up by 25mg, you will have slight start up side affects again, but keep at that dose for 5 or so weeks then see how you feel.
Thats just from my personal experience.
Sertraline is a very good drug for anxiety.

Hi, I have been on Sertraline now for 3years for anxiety and menopause. It has been great but the last 6months i have been getting anxious again. After visiting my Dr today she said this is normal and as your hormones change you need to change your dose to suit. i am now going on 150mg. I started on 50 and although feeling better still wasn't great so after six weeks Dr put it up to 100mg which i have been on until today. The fact is your body is changing all the time and you are best to go to Drs for a review on medication. Pick your Dr! I know some Drs have been much better than others at helping me. Book in advance and get the Dr you feel the most comfortable with. I have waited 4 weeks to see the right one but I'm sure it will be worth it. Sertraline has been a game changer for me.
