Hello Mary, have you been back to the surgeon?  My first thought, was that you have suffered an allergic reaction to something.

Contact the Consultant's secretary and tell her what has happened and she should arrange an appointment for you.  The other option, is to go to your GP.

Have you had a follow up appt at the hosp.?

Hi thank you for your reply, have been back twice and it was suggested that it might be an allergic reaction to the screws in my toes and told to wait a month to see what happens. It is more about the pain in the whole of my foot, ankle and calf. GP has referred me for physio and my first appointment is on the 1st December x

That was my immediate thought, that the screws were causing the problems and the pain too.  It might be interesting to see what the Physio thinks, Dec 1st isn't too long to wait.  I hope the pain is bearable for the moment.  When are you due to go back to the hosp?  I'm sure the Physio can send you back to the surgeon if necessary.

      Good luck Mary

Thank you, I am not due to go back to hospital for 2 months unless the rash gets worse which it doesn't seem to be at the moment. I had my other foot done about 2 yrs ago and had none of these problems x

Two years is a long time in medicine and the screws could have been made by a different manufacturer, even if it is the same manufacturer, it isn't likely to be the same batch.

I'm glad the rash isn't getting any worse.

I had foot surgery on October 15 2014. I had a screw in my big toe and they shaved down the two bones on the top of my big toe and put a spacer in between them.there was no Cartlidge left. He also went and shaved off bones in the middle of my foot and put a spacer they are also. I only had issues and pain in my big toe. Now I'm having a problem after four months not being able to walk. I have gone to a pain management doctor and he said it isA weight bearing problem. It only hurts when I am walking and put pressure on my foot. The problem is in the middle part of my foot now.? I was telling my doctor for over a month and a half that it felt like there wast a stitch still in the middle area on the top of my foot. It was always sensitive to touch and inflamed. On the third time I told him he finally started listening to me and he felt the stitch coming up. He had to dig around and get most of it. That was about a month and a half ago. I went back to him about two weeks later he didn't know what to do and he sent me to a pain management doctor. I am on medication patch for the bottom and the top of my foot now. I still cannot walk. before my surgery my doctor wanted me to get orthotics. I asked him if I should wait till after the surgery and he told me no it wouldn't change. It has changed my arch has gone up.he has shown me that the arch went up from my x-rays. It took me over four visits for him to re-cast my foot for a new orthotic. I feel like I'm the doctor now because he's not giving me any answers. I have been on the Internet researching as much as I can. Now I'm going to try to stay down off my foot for a couple weeks to see if that might work? I feel that, that part of my foot did not heal correctly because the stitch was not out, it was inflamed in that area so it wouldn't and didn't heal. This whole thing is pretty crazy to me and can't believe this doctors not even care. I'm being very positive that staying off of this and letting it heal that might work? I read that sometimes it will take up to six months especially having a foreign object in your body now. If it doesn't I will be going to another doctor. Does anyone have any ideas about this? Thank you.
