100mg of sertraline

Hi I’ve been going through health issues for 3 years. I tried to do everything natural to help me but I finally gave in and tried sertraline. It took me awhile to find the right dose and I now take 100mg 50mg in the morning and 50mg at night. I’ve been on it for 3 weeks and I’m wondering when I will start to feel better. Anyone have any advice for me?

You said the right dosage and how do you know that - are feeling better ? Have the symptons eased ? However, i think the right dose should show effects in max 3-4 weeks time.
I have never heard of spliiting the dose and the best time is in the morning. Try this maybe you 'll feel better.

If you are not feeling better, than you do not have the right dose or maybe a different SSRI. With these meds there is no one size fits all. It would also help if you made a list of your symptoms before and after you started taking sertraline, to see if there has been a difference. My doctor also told me there is a wide margin of what type of meds/dosage works best from one person to the next.
Like you, I dealt with it for as long as I could, until I couldn't anymore. I am so glad I did. I have been on a starter dose of 25mg for the past 8 days and started 50mg last night. Dr. said that meds help with anxiety pretty quickly and at lower doses. My thoughts have stopped chasing themselves helterskelter and when some bad thoughts from my past come up, I am no longer all in knots.
Please talk to your doctor.

I agree with you that there's no one size fits all when it comes to Meds...I for one Sertraline didn't agree with me, I started 2 and half month ago on 100MG and begun cutting down 5 weeks ago from 100MG to now about 8MG a day with no side effects (knock on wood). By next Thursday my body should be free of it. I feel good, myself again, no more feeling like a zombie/blurred vision and all the side effect goodies that come with it.

I agree with Jenna. We all want to feel better asap but it's a slow acting med and takes time.
I started on 50mg and stayed on that dose for seven and a half weeks. My scrip was to increase to 100mg after the first week but the side effects made me cautious about doing so, I had the full range of side effects, but, I've read that the more side effects you have, the more beneficial the drug will be in the long term.
During my eighth week I increased to 75mg and am on my tenth day of that dose. My doctor says it's best to increase gently to avoid further side effects and also because you need about eight weeks before the results of each dosage is evident. I had very few side effects when I increased.
First two weeks of taking the med at 50mg I had nausea, fuzzy head, diarrhea, reduced appetite, tiredness, increased depression and increased anxiety, I couldn't drive and didn't want to get out of bed, I felt ill. These diminished and during the third week I experienced jaw clenching and music in my ears, a form of tinnitus. I had a couple of good days but overall felt worse and was worried.
Now, nine weeks in, my depression is greatly reduced, anxiety too but not as much as depression,. I've read that it takes longer for anxiety to respond. Most of the side effects have gone apart from tiredness and some apathy. I don't feel numb, I feel me, but things don't get to me as much as they did. I don't feel brilliant but I do feel a lot better than when I started on the meds.
When I increased to 75mg I split the dose, 50 in the evening, 25 in the morning but I found the morning dose made me sleepy during the day and for the last couple of days I take the whole dose in the evening. I think it's a case of trying to find what's best for you. Some people find evening, some morning, some split doses.
But above all, I've found that this is a drug that needs patience. It's not a quick cure but, in the longer term, I am finding it effective and hoping for even better results in the future. It's not an overnight cure and needs patience and belief that it will work when you get the right dosage. Not easy when you just want to feel better but worth it in the long run.
