100mg Sertraline blip

Hi everyone
I have been taking Sertraline for 6 weeks now. I've been on and off various SSRI's for the best part of 20 years but this time will stick things out, as I realise I am someone who needs them.
I am well read up on them all and am also aware that we area all different with regards to efficacy/dosage, etc. I have read arguments for and against the various manufacturers of sertraline. I used to think that they were all the same in terms of composition and when many argued that they were all different I just put it down to placebo.
I had been prescribed Ranbaxy Sertraline which I was fine on, and certainly over the past week or so I was really feeling motivated and PTSD completely gone. I picked up my new prescription three days ago and have crashed with my mood. Feeling tearful and staying indoors again. This new box are Accord Sertraline. It makes no logical sense to me. I checked the ingredients in order to compare, and they are both the same. I feel so frustrated and hugely disappointed and wondered if anyone had also had this experience.
I have sent a message to my medical practice mentioning this but I fear I will be advised that it is not possible for them to be different and it must be all in my mind.I also requested Lustral (even though I am very aware of the reason generics are offered) although I wonder if Lustral is still available in the UK as I can't find any information.

6 wks is a tough week with up and down moods so it may not be that the brand is different. That's not to say it t isn't either. I just know from my personal experience it was close to 10wks on the same dose to start having good days. Hopefully you will get answers. It felt like an awful roller coaster for a very long time. I hope you have better days soon.

Thank you Lola82. I am now taking Lustral (Pfizer). My GP seemed to be happy to prescribe the branded, rather than generic. She did say that many health care practitioners agree that they can affect people differently.
Same dose of 100mgs. Now in week 7 and I'm so tired after a full 8 hours sleep. Yep, it really is a roller coaster isn't it? I have never been on this high a dose before but I am so determined to get my depression sorted out so I will give it until 3 months I think. I do wish that everyone was informed that it can take some time until you feel better.
Thank you so much for responding to my question.

I'm so glad you got the Lustral. I guess Canada is different. I phoned and asked my pharmacist just in case it could change without me knowing. yes definitely a Rollercoaster. I am now wk 11. it's better then wk 1 but still some up and downs just less frequent. wk 10 was pretty good so I know the meds working somewhat
