Hi there guys,
Im currently taking 100mg to treat my anxiety and I was wondering if anyone experences the sertraline waring off by the evening? Ive been on sertraline for about 7 weeks. Does it increase in length of effect during the day the more you take it? And i was wondering if my fast metabolism has something to do with it?
Thanks

I had similar problems with anxious mornings when I was taking my sertraline as soon as i woke up. It would take a while to kick in and had obviously worn off completely during the night.
I switched to taking it on an evening instead and the morning anxiety stopped pretty quickly.

its somthing to do with brain chemistry when suffering depression, apparantly eating a banana helps, i ate a banana every mornimg and a litttle porridge before taking my meds, well i tried forcing my self to eat it as i lost all appetite. i also found that if i woke up in the morning naturaly my anxiety would be worse, but when i woke up.with alarm.clock earlier it wasng as bad!
please also know that people who domt suffer depression or anxiety also get that butterfly feeling in the morning, hence why a lot of people dont eat breakfast.
hope that helps xx

i take mine in the morning also. personally i would only take antidepressants before bed if they made me very tired and sleepy
there's no set rule though, you can just take it whenever you like, as sertraline has a half life of around 24 hours, so it builds up in your system over the weeks and months, regardless of that time u take it

I guess the dosage depends on a few different factors, like the severity of your anxiety, body size, etc.
Sertraline takes a few weeks to "level out" in your system which is why people have bad side effects in the begining, and when they come off it. "building up" happens because the meds are selective seretonin reuptake inhibitors, which means they don't actually dose you with seretonin, they tell your brain how much to produce itself and this takes a while to level out.
I guess stick with it and see if it plateau's and if you're still finding its wearing off quickly after about a month ask the doctor about a higher dose
