10cm cyst waiting for surgery date

Hi,
i was coping fine, knowing that i have a 10cm cyst but was under the impression that i would be in for surgery quickly, after speaking with my specialist 2-3 weeks ago.
I have a holiday booked with a group so thought i would phone hospital to see if they had any idea when i would be in. The admissions receptionist tol me that if it was urgent ( i was not even on the list) the wait is 3 months, routine was 50 weeks.
I was pretty shocked. i just want this done now, although i only had an mri last week and the results have not been seen by my specialist. i
i am worried about what its safe to do now, can i do strenuous walking? have sex? lift heavy stuff? etc as i have to go on holiday soon, and i have told myself just have to accept this waiting time and there is nothing i can do except hand it over.

Hi, I was diagnosed with a 10cm dermoid cyst in March 2017. I've had a couple of MRI scans but I need to lose weight before I can have surgery. I saw my surgeon a couple of weeks ago and my cyst is growing quite rapidly at 2cm in 6 months so is now at least 12cm probably bigger! Normally the grow at the rate of 1 to 2mm per year! I go back in October for a review and another MRI but unless I become doubled up in unbareable agony they won't operate until I lose weight . I also go on holiday in July but am just carrying on as best I can. Nothing more you can do unless your cyst becomes unbareably painful and you have to go to A&E/Emergency room and inform them of your cyst and they will get in contact with your gynaecologist surgeon and take it from there. Just try to enjoy your holiday and worry about your cyst when you get back that's what I'm going to do. I've let mine take over my life too much. Gynaecologist wouldn't leave it if it wasn't safe to do so.

I had a 10 Cm & 2cm on the same side and I waited 3 months for surgery as well. Saw surgeon mid Sept and had operation mid December. I think it's normal.
My surgeon told me absolutely no exercise whatsoever. No sudden movements.. no sex. Those are the 2 biggest things that can cause a rupture or torsion. I'm sure ever case is different but I was so worried about something going wrong before surgery I followed this.

Can I ask have you had a CA125 test done? If this is normal they may not rush.

That's good, that's probably why they are not rushing. I would go back and push for a sooner date , you can't live normally. See if you can get a cancellation. You need to be your own advocate, believe you me I know from the last 6 months of experience .
Be brave and push.
Good luck xx

I got my 6cm approx cyst removed 2 days back thr laparoscopic , it wz there from last 1yr. My exp might help you.though dr will tell you, but It is not minor surgery. It’s painful process reply catheter part hurts most in the whole process. And now I have 4 stitches which really hurt though I m getting better day by day. But traveling etc I don’t see doable as of now, a simple jerk even hurts. So I would suggest if planning for surgery please take good 3-4 relaxing weeks.
