10th week and feeling rubbish again

Posted , 9 users are following.

Been on Sertraline 100mg for nearly 10 weeks and I had two good weeks before entering week 10, now I feel sick, tired and have difficulty eating and focusing on TV etc is this a blip like I had before, Dr doesn't want to change meds or up dose.

Any experience would be nice to hear from you

Welcome Michelle, yeah I'm going into week 17, I had a good 2-3 weeks from about week 12, now it's all up and down, my appetite is fine since week 12 onwards, sleep also returned but I do take rescue remedy night time which helps, my mood is up and down and I have a fuzzy head with pressure, I read and heard from other people that it can take longer than 6-8 weeks or even longer than 12 weeks to be back to normal, don't panic you will get there, just do what you can do, avoid pressure or stress from anyone, what are you on there for? And do you still work?

Avoid caffeine, give up coffee, it's a stimulant, I've given up coffee and tea and stick to camomile and peppermint tea as they are calming.

Your the only person who can decide to go back to work or not.

I've given up coffee and fags and still anxious think I will just drink water and run on a treadmill to make myself sleep maybe that will work lol

Sleeping has improved I can now sleep for 8 or more hours, and I get the pressure in the head all the time but it's got less and less as the weeks go on.

When did ur sleep improve cos mine s been like this for months feels like it's never goin to return to normal no not tried meditation or mindfulness x
    • Posted

I ave a treadmill and use it regularly and drink lots of water nothing's worked for me so far lol x

I started listening to meditation for anxiety on YouTube, before going to bed and there's ones on there to help with sleep, it takes a week or so to start actually listening to it and it making a difference my sleep returned around the 12 week mark. I'm on 100mg of sertraline and that's all, never wanted sleeping pills as once you on them it's hard to adjust your body back to sleep without needing sleep pills.

If anyone told me about meditation last year I would of laughed, but seriously I was prepared to try anything and meditation helped me it calms your mind and stops it racing and it helpes with breathing exercises.
    • Posted

Ok I will ave a look and give it a try I'm a bit sceptical like u but I'm willing to give anything a try at the moment I didn't ave a choice with the pills my psychiatrist put me on them cos I was getting no sleep at all which made me ave no appetite and depression x

Try doing it with a partner or friend, take it seriously and try not to giggle, it gets easier the more you do it, as first I was doing it two to three times a day and I found I was taking naps during the day for up to an hour without realising then my sleep pattern slowly returned to normal.

What did he say about your meds ? Surely he didn't say give them 2 more months
    • Posted

I was sacked last week due to being off since February, and the doctor wants me 100% before stressing about finding another job.
    • Posted

Pretty much, that's why he had signed me off for another two months so I don't have to worry about finding a job yet, give my body longer to heal. If I feel normal sooner then I'll go back to him and discuss getting another job
    • Posted

I was off the first 5-6 months undiagnosed tho, it took them ages to tell me I have panic and anxiety disorder after all the tests.
