11 cm Cyst on Ovaries

Hi everyone, I am new on here and have been reading through posts..

I am 46 and not been feeling well for some months...bloatness, feeling sick, constant visits to the toilet, exhaustion, bad pains in my stomach, weight loss due to not having a good apetite as Im feeling full on small amounts of food.  Finally I went to the doctors 8 weeks ago due to severe pains.  I was sent straight to the hopital for blood tests and had 2 scans and saw the consultant 5 days later.  I have a large overian cyst 11 x 9 x 8 cm on one overy and on the other overy a 5cm one.  I am due to have an operation, well actually I was supposed to have it last Monday but it got cancelled after waiting 7 hours and Im still awaiting a date. They are taking both overies away, Its all happened so quick.  The cyst is attached to part of my bowls and as its so large is pressing all my organs down to the bladder hence frequent visits to the toilet day and night.  They are going to try a type of keyhole first but not sure they will get it out and may have to open me up also.  I look about 7 months pregnant.

Could anyone tell me about recovery and tips please also, HRT and if they lost weight after the cyst was removed around the tummy.    I am due to be in hopital about 4 to 5 days and I am so nervous I should have my new date in the next couple of days.  Thank you.

I had a 7 cm cyst removed, both tubes and ovaries. My surgery was at 11 am and I was home sitting on the couch by 1 in the afternoon. I had mine removed laparoscopically. One hole on my belly button and one on each side of my abdomen. I came home with no pain just sleepy. By the 3rd day I was off pain meds and taking tylenol. By the end of one week I felt great. I took a month off work because I could. The only thing for me was I wore dresses the first week as I didn't like anything to touch my wounds. My Ob here does not do HRT because I am 50. I lost about 5 pounds from taking the pain meds which made me not hungry. My only negative was hot flashes. You will be just fine. Waiting for the surgery was 100 times worst then the surgery itself. Good luck to you.
