11 days after op when does the pain ease?

hi my son persuaded me to have a haemorrhoidectomy as I had suffered for years. He had one a few years back on a Friday night and was at work on Monday morning. He said it was the best thing he had ever done..... But I have since learned that he only had one large haemorrhoid I had 3 removed 11 days ago and still cannot sit or stand for long. Do not want to lie down all day so keep trying to get around the house a bit and move around as much as I am able to. I was told that 2 weeks and I would be driving the car... In your dreams Mr. Surgeon... This I am sure will need at least a couple more weeks before I can drive.. What do you folks say ???????

Oh yes, broken glass would describe it just as well!
I had it done around 10 weeks ago. I'm completely back to normal if I'm honest.
I didn't find the movicol helped, instead I used glycerine suppositories and they were amazing. Helped so much, go to Tesco and grab some if you can.
Like you, I saved the strong stuff for bedtime. I had cocodamol. Then had ibuprofen and paracetamol for the day. I also ordered some tucks pads from Amazon which helped ease the discomfort.
You'll start to feel better soon, may not feel like that, but you will.
I also panicked my bum would be leaking for the rest of my life, but that's gone too.

Sally you have been so helpful 😊 thank you. Every Time I have a BM I wash with a soggy water wipe, then pat dry gently and put a paper hankie tissue smeared with Vaseline between my bum. It then takes all the sting away. Just had a lovely soak in the bath and washed my hair with the hand shower feel almost human now. My best friend is coming to see me tomorrow so I might even try a bit of makeup 💄, my poor husband must be fed up looking at an old trog. But he has been very sympathetic. Thanks again Sally. We are. Booked fir a sun ?? holiday Jan 7th so hope I will b up to it by then. Take care x

Hi me again, had to laugh when you said take yourself off to Tesco. I have not moved from the house since I returned from the hospital. Only started walking around yesterday, before I just slid along in my slippers . Could not sit stand or walk just rested on one hip then the other one carrying a feather pillow around with me everywhere. Still got the pillow under my bot but walking now real steps and standing up to half an hour on the kitchen getting lunch. Even did 10 minutes of easy floor leg movements of Pilates today. Probably go ice skating tomorrow Haha 😂 🍻 cheers.

Haha stop it! When I said go to Tesco, I meant drag yourself in your pyjamas and cry to the pharmacist. Oh wait... that's what I did! Day five. Can remember it well : )

Oh and plenty of fresh veggies. Just don't do what I did and forget about the no spice rule. Had a spicy hot stir fry on day three. Boy did I know about it!

Hi June, this op is awful. I had one done 2 months ago and I'm only just getting back to normal. I was able to drive the next day, but the recovery has been long & painful. The worse is the b/m. All I can suggest is take fibre, stool softeners, try to do some daily walking & plenty of baths to keep the area clean. I use to put table salt in the water & then changed over to coconut oil.
You will probably find a jump in recovery rather than a daily improvement & it can test your mental health. It does get easier though. Good luck x
