ask your doc if they can give you something to help until the sertraline kicks in like a benzo or some beta blockers to take the edge off
what dose you on?

straight on to 50mg for me
hopefully the anxiety will settle down by the time you are due to go up to 50mg so when you increase it wont be too bad. when you increase you might get side effects again but they wont last as long.

Oh I was terrified of taking something for anxiety (benzo) and I know I suffered needlessly for years before I finally broke down and took a 1/2 of a clonazepam. Within 30 minutes or so I was feeling relieved and within an hour I felt completely normal! Sometimes when our mind and bodies are so worked up you just need some type of relief even if for a little while so the antidepressants can work. They do say that they are addicting but I never ever took mine for pleasure, it was only as needed for a panic attack, never had to increase dose etc and I no longer take them, haven't needed to in 9 months now.
Mind you, if I do have a panic attack again I will not be afraid to take 1/2 of one though.

Hey there! I have not started it yet. I am building up to the switch I guess lol. A lot of the weird feelings I had while at the higher doses of celexa since decreasing are starting to get lesser, some anxiety has come back but tolerable, so far so good! And when I took Zoloft in the past I think my side effects were restless leg syndrome, some vivid dreams, shaky, headache, and some dizziness, and felt like my heart was racing. They really didn't last too awful long probably about a month or month and a half. And I really felt better.

I'm glad you arent feeling too bad so far so that's good.
are you still planning on swapping or are you going to see how you are on a lower dose.
sorry to hear the anxiety is back it's horrible isnt it.
I'm feeling very unsteady on my feet and a bit dizzy too since starting.
the anxiety is horrific. I'm told sertraline is a slow acting SSRI and should pass soon enough x

Thank you! I am still planning on swapping just doing it a little slower then the doctor suggested.
The anxiety I have had for many many years so I am almost used to that, I don't like it but I can tolerate it better then feeling that Dp/DR that came along with the celexa! It'll be easier to get the anxiety under control then the other for sure.
I do remember getting that dizzy and unsteady feeling myself, I think it was more the anxiety causing it then the actual medication but may have just been a combo of the both of them. Do you feel any relief from that when you're calmer? I know that when I had to take the clonazepam for anxiety the dizziness subsided almost completely. I think around 5-8 weeks things got considerably better for me after starting zoloft, so fingers crossed it will be the same for you!!

I've had it since starting the celexa and never went away. When I took zoloft years ago, it may have been mild in the first month or so but got better and completely went away. So, I can only assume that some antidepressants just aren't a good fit no matter how long you try to stick it out. I stuck it out for 9 months total with the celexa so I think I gave it a fair amount of time to work.

well done grounded for doing it at your own pace and not rushing and making the decision to change it's not easy to do is it.
I'm lucky I only have that feeling when my anxiety is really high and it never lasts long and its terrifying to say the least, the fact you managed to keep going for 9 months just shows how strong you are.
I agree it feels like the unsteady feeling is a mix of both like you said. it doesn't help at all does it lol
can I ask why you tried celexa instead of zoloft or was it just the doctor he said to try celexa instead?

how you doing today?

It's been over 10 years since I was on zoloft so they decided to try something new that my mother and aunt had taken and worked well for them.
I should have stuck with the zoloft, oh well lesson learned!
And yes I think the dizziness although it really stinks having it is due a lot to anxiety, it will pass, I promise! It did for me.
9 months of the DP/DR feeling, not much anxiety I don't think ,I was too numb to have that. And to some numb may sound good but its not for me, it made me feel like someone totally different! I have always been such an emotional person, and strong feelings so it wasn't good.

they do say if it works well for a close family member it might work well for you, just shows that isn't always the case
i can imagine that being numb is not very nice. some people don't mind but like you I don't think I would like that very much at all. it's worth trying these things but you know now that celexa is not for you, you gave it a pretty good go. hopefully the zoloft will be perfect for you.
thank you Grounded it's nice to hear when things are tough.
how are you feeling about the switch? worried, nervous, happy it will work for you?
Grounded Potatoghost

I'm not so much worried about the switch being that I've actually been through hell in the past and made it through it so I guess I'm at a point now that I don't think it could get worse so it's just up from here! I've still not switched though lol, I am still reducing down on the celexa, I think I've been taking about 8mg a night. I am splitting them so not exactly sure of the dose I'm getting but its slightly less then the 10mg. I have also added magnesium glycinate at night when I take the celexa so hopefully that helps in the reducing. We shall see! 😃
The only adverse effect that I can tell from reducing has been slightly more anxiety so I guess that is a good thing.
As soon as I am off the celexa 100% I will start with 50mg of the zoloft, and just keep my fingers crossed that it works as well as it has in the past.
How are you getting along btw? Starting to feel a little better yet?
