11 months struggling

Greetings everyone! I am relieved that I found this forum as its very uplifting and reassuring since now I know I am not the only one going through hell. I have been struggling with flu-like symptoms and brain fog since last June but blamed it on sleep apnea since I was diagnosed with that back then. I have just been diagnosed with EBV two weeks ago after persistently telling my PCP that something else is wrong. Apparently, I have it on all three levels and the antibodies were quite high. I cannot function as I have debilitating brain fog, fatigue, and fever/cold sweats every day. I have just started eating healthier. Have carrot/banana/strawberry smoothie and peanut butter toast with 3teaspoons of coconut oil for breakfast. Along with grilled chicken with avocado and cucumbers/asparagus for dinner. I have started drinking Lemon Ginger herb tea with probiotics as I cannot drink ginseng due to sleep apnea. I am starting to lose hope and cry a lot as I have been not living my life for almost a year. All I want is for the brain fog and fatigue to go since it is whats making me the most miserable.

I know exactly how you're feeling. I just dropped all my college courses as I cannot deal with the stress and brain fog anymore. It sucks because I had a 4.0 until I started feeling my symptoms flare up. I as well have no friends as no one understands and doing activities they partake in will not help my health improve. Luckily I have a very loving and understanding girlfriend who helps me push forward. Try staying strong and push forward for the people that love you. Hopefully, we will both get better soon and move on from this terrible chapter of our life. Keep me updated on your improvements

Hi Fra,
Really feeling your pain and empathising having gone through this virus years ago for a similar length of time. And more recently been going through a similar time length of troubles with back pain that has got me so down too and made me feel the way you have been feeling too lately.
I just really want to reassure you that things do get better with mono, even after this length of time. It took me the same time as you, just about a year, to see a major turning point, but it did come even after I felt hope of that was gone. You won't have to go through anything like the last year again Fra, year 2 is a walk in the park compared to what you go through in the first year. It sounds like you're doing all the right things, eating healthy and taking care of yourself, you're doing what you can - taking vitamins and herbs helped me too, a good strong multi-vitamin per day, high doses of Vitamin C (1000mg-3000mg per day), B complex (for energy levels and brain fog) and immune boosting herbs like echnicea and oregano.
Really hoping you feel better physically and emotionally soon Fra. I know pain and illness drags you down, just praying for God to help us all through our troubles at the moment. Thinking about you and remember you will get over this and will make a full recovery still, absolutely I believe that for you Fra 100%, even though it's been such a long and hard road. Hang in there and just deal with one day and step at a time.
Craig

When did you shake of the brain fog? This is what bothers me the most and at times I have panic attacks due to how unconnected and lost I feel. I will continue to update everyone and hopefully make progress for the better soon

You're welcome Fra, it's understandable to be so down during this, I was exactly the same. I have been lately too for terrible back pain I've been having too and I know what suffering and feeling helpless feels like - it's terrible and I wouldn't wish it on anyone. Just praying God helps us all through our troubles right now.
Fra the brain fog for me I think eased over a period of time, it's hard to remember exactly but as things improved physically they improved with this too. Just remember you ARE going to get through this and just take things slowly and don't beat yourself up - God is with us even in the hardest of moments.
