i saw consultant for the first time last monday he said my hip was good and i was walking okay even though i wasnt so sure as i have a limp he felt that will just go. The last 2 weeks ive been in s lot of pain in my thigh going down leg to ankle hedid some checks on my leg he felf it was my back or a nerve in my back being pinched. Says should go in about 6 weeks. Didnt say what happens if doesnt, I feel i shouldnt have had it done i worked better before it was done even with slight limp

Even at 12 weeks i felt the same way and still had a slight limp...i thought i had made a mistake. 8 'mths on no regrets, give it time. 12wks is still early recovery days.

I'm 12 weeks as well and definitely limping if walking unaided but atm mainly still using a crutch. I've just get occasional muscle thigh aches rather than anything else. my thoughts at the minute are it's still very early days for me and compared to pre OP where my mobility was very limited and I was in constant severe pain I'm more than happy with my surgery even atm.

I'm in the uk and we often have to wait a long time for our surgery where we're getting worse and worse . I know I was getting bone on bone pain esp when standing or fully weight bearing on my bad leg.

I hope your present symptoms improve for you

I still had a slight limp until about 16 weeks or do. I'm at almost a year and a half post op and it's pretty good now. No pain but my leg will still get a little tight if I overdo a workout or really push it hard.

I am told the limp is due to weak muscles, and having done resistance exercises with the physio this has strengthened them and my limp is almost gone. worth trying

i can recall saying in tears i felt worse than before the op, it was really hard initially, it took me months to feel like i was better than before. But it did happen and now i have no regrets. I was really bad at 45 bone on bone with it expected to be complex and not a straight forward replacement. I was finding it challenging to walk any distance but would grit my teeth and get on with it. Now i feel so grateful incredibly so, its amazing, i have my life back, which had steadily been in decline since my 30s. Just take your time.

I am just over 3 weeks post op for THR and a common theme on here is that there is a big swing I peoples experience but there is also a theme of causes of limp in that the muscles were weaker on the operated side pre op and post op and you have to really focus on those. I am just past 3 weeks THR and off walking stick since day 10 with no limp . My physio gave me some good advice as I want to return to running and doing single leg exercises on the operated side to get both sides on par .Apparently if the backside muscles are not working at the same strength ergo a limp . keep at it and I was in agony in my shins and ankle with referred pain but now gone . We all have the day when we say it wasnt worth it but I for one didn't want to keep going as I was at night not sleeping and pain killers all the time . We are all different and heal slower or faster and again age has a lot to do with it . I am 52 so on the younger side
