    hi sandra,

sounds that you are doing really good -

at this time, 10 days post-op, your hip joint or it's surrounding tissue might still be swollen - this can last for a bit longer  - a lot of trauma has been inflicted ...

do you have an appointment to have stitches or staples removed?

not sure about the fast heartbeat and what causes this - when do you notice it?

do you have high bloodpressure or take any other medication besides paracetamol ??

    how are you doing otherwise?

    big warm hug

    Hi Sandra,

It sounds as if you are doing really well - except for your heart and wondering whether your hip position is normal.

As Renée says - that is best to check with a medical professional.

Re your new hip sticking out further than the other one ... I wonder how much of this is determined by how you stand. Does it look the same when you are lying down flat? Is your other hip healthy – I ask because I am waiting for my 2nd THR and realize how badly the pain had affected my posture (I had been leaning forward quite a bit without realizing it). If your other hip is also affected then perhaps it is still compensating for the pain…

If it bothers badly – check with your doctor when you are next in. I wonder how much of this is determined by how you stand. Does it look the same when you are lying down flat? Of course, if it bothers you badly – check with your doctor when you are next in.

But congratulations in progressing so well otherwise.

    Hello Sandra,

i am on day 12. And also have a hip much larger than the other.

it also felt like that leg was longer too.

i had been gradually leaning more on my good leg over a period of 7 years, so now am struggling with re training wasted muscles, to bring my body back to central.

I think that the more I work on them, the greater they swell each evening, so I am not expecting to have similar hips for a while.

hope this helps, let us know when things look more normal!

well done with minimum pain meds by the way.  This is a strange journey for us all 😐

Hi Sandra. So glad to hear that you are progressing nicely. My hip stuck out for the first 2 weeks or so. It will gradually go away. I'm at 3 weeks today with very minimal swelling. The ice packs did help a great deal! As far as the heart beat. I do remember that although it is gone now. I was told by Dr. It was from the opioid medication. I'm off of all of it now and boy do I feel better. But you should still check with your healthcare provider for answers. Keep up the good work!
