13 day old baby first time mum terrible anxiety!

Hi my name is Charlotte I am 24 and recently gave birth to a baby boy! I have always suffered with anxiety/panic attacks since the ages of 17 and have been on antidepressants for it since, however during my pregnancy I stopped my medication and so wish I never now as my anxiety has come back with a vengeance!! I was put back on my meds Paroxetine 20mg a week ago and have had some good moments but mostly bad! It is so hard dealing with the anxiety and having a newborn to look after especially with the lack of sleep! People say to me To sleep when baby does but I am unable to do so due to me feeling so anxious! I am looking for support from anybody who knows what I am going through! I feel so alone right now despite having a loving partner and family around me! I just want to know when I am going to feel better again and when will I be back to my fun self! All this anxiety is making me depressed! My anxiety is not of the baby but of me and how I feel and wondering all the time will I ever be back to my normal self again!

hi charlotte. i feel so strongly for u and ur very real dilemma right now. sleep deprevation is horrendous. i wondering charlotte, if u can get ur health visitor or/and post natal midwife involved as u don't need this to decend into severe post partum depression or psychosis. as a first time mum, ur health visitor should be able to rally a few support organisations around u. have u thought about 'surestart' at all as a means of support. do u have a neo natal peer group of mums that u might be able to exchange experiences with. as an ex midwige, i know that very few mums are free of these worries. most of the time, all they need is a little support & reassurance that they are doing a trojan job being a new mum.

hope u get the support u need. supportive, positive thoughts are with u.

Congratulations on the birth of your son! Well done! I too suffer with anxiety! I urge you to have reflexology and aromatherapy! Both wonderful for anxiety! The more you stress over baby the more he will pick up on your vibes! Good luck !! Regards Amanda

Charlotte, i know exactly what youre going through, you are not alone. Ive been suffering with panic attacks and anxiety since i was 11, im now 41 and  have only just found a remedy. Over the years i have tried everything, CBT, counselling, sleeping tablets, aversion therapy, hypnotherapy, diets. Nothing seemed to help. Then i read an article about Magnesium Taurate being great for anxiety and insomnia. I bought some, started taking 2 a day and im not kidding, after 10 weeks i felt calm and relaxed, situations that would usually cause a panic episode seemed trivial and i couldnt even remember the feelings of panic. Im sleeping 8 hours a night without medication which i havent done for the past 12 years. I cannot urge you enough to please try this vitamin supplement. Doctors say its safe and its better than taking antidepressants. Please read up about it,im sure  you will not find one negative review. I use a brand called Cardiovascular Research Magnesium Taurate. You can get it on Amazon. Give it a go for 3 months and see the change in yourself. Weve just adopted a newborn baby so i understand the anxiety youre going through. Please anybody else who is reading this aswell as Charlotte, try this remedy, it really works for anxiety, panics, insomnia, palpitations and lack of appetite.
