13 weeks and still counting.

Hi all

I've had my bunion done, two dislocated toes realigned and my instep fused.

Yesterday after 13 weeks the cast came off. It was replaced by a walking boot. This thing looks like something Robocop would have. It weighs a ton. But I dont have to wear it in bed or in the shower. I 've got to take it steady but wean myself off it over the next 3 to 4 weeks.

I'm still not allowed back to work. Health and Safety but I'm still getting paid so no worries.

The skin on my foot looked like filo pastry and I had what looked like cradle cap on my leg. Two showers later and gentle rubbing with a muslin cloth and the towel and the leg and foot look great. I can just see the toe and instep scars if I look closely. The bunion scar is more obvious but I'm sure it will fade in time. To be honest I'm not bothered as I'm no longer in pain and the foot looks so straight.

It's been quite a tough time, but so far every hop and hobble has been worth it.

Wow, quite a process ! glad to hear your gains, and that ultimately, it`s going to be worth it .. I had my surgery last Monday bunion/big toe joint fused, toes pinned. Off narcotics day 4, happy to say. self employed, no income while off, was hoping to go back part time after a month.. doubting that now, with cast for 6 wks, then boot. Next year, other foot. so hoping it will be worth it  .. brightest thoughts
