16 weeks but still having a few wobbles

Reassurance needed! I've been taking citalopram 20mg for 16 weeks now and I've been doing so well, the beginning was awful full of high anxiety but I managed to get through it and the good times stared coming and the last couple of weeks have been fantastic and felt like my old self again but today I'm back to lots of anxiety and nervousness and feeling sick! I have a big bday next week and I'm going away for a few days so that's probably what's doing it although I'm excited about it all!! I hate the down periods and wonder when it will all go away! I thought after 4 months on citalopram the wobbles would have gone!

    Hi foxy,

From what I have read of here it can take a full 6 months before the wobbles really get to the point where you hardly notice them x

Remember everyone has bad days/periods they are a normal part of life. It's just that when you feel like we do they become exaggerated.

I am on 10mg too. Think week 11 for me and it's been a wobbly week after a few good weeks. It's sucks...but we will get there eventually 😊

Thanks yommymommy it's always good to hear people going trough the same thing and yes it does suck after having a good few weeks and deep down I know I'll get there eventually.

Hi, going by my experience, this is normal. I had a weekend away after about four months on citalopram and remember feeling anxious about going away, I suppose we all feel safer with familiarity. The weekend was great and I enjoyed it all. It's only a little wobble and perfectly normal. You will actually feel as if you have achieved something by going away. Hope that helps and happy birthday

      Hi Foxy...

Great to get some advised from doc and good to know it's just a blip 😊

I am on week 12 as of today of 10mg. I would like to stay on 10mg...will see how the next few weeks go and possibly got to 20mg. I feel 100% better than I did...but still a bit of a low mood at times x

      Hi yommymommy

Glad your doing well on 10mg! My doc put me straight on 20mg! I'm feeling better tonight! My depression is better since being on the meds but the anxiety still creeps in so I've decided to have some hypnotherapy to help with the anxiety and have my consultation next week! Thanks for the chat! Xx

Any time 😊 funny as my anxiety is almost gone...but my low mood is still hanging over...I'm not stressing too much though as I know recovery takes its time and it will come eventually 😊

Have you tried acupuncture, it really helped me especially with restoring my sleeping pattern?

      Hi

No I haven't I'm going to try hypnotherapy first then acupuncture is next on the list! I've done cbt and emdr therapy but they didn't help much! Xx

I will be interested to hear how the hypnotherapy goes. Yoga helps me as well, I attend a class once a week and the breathing techniques are really useful when you feel a panic/anxiety attack coming on

I will let you know what happens! I also do yoga but I do it at home but was thinking I should maybe find a class somewhere xx
