16 yr old Daughter with gall bladder issues

My daughter had a hida scan, it took 1 hr and 15 mins for gall bladder to fill enough to do emptying. results were 44% function. Pedatric GI doctor says she is too young for removal and they are ok with it down to 35%. She is now in constant pain, had a really bad attack 2 nights ago. She can't make it through a day of school she is miserable. Actually called my OBGYN and she is talking to the surgeons she works with to hopefully get us a consult with one of them. SOOO Stressed.

Would take her back to see Dr. May I ask which country you are in, it helps to know as different country's care varies.

Understand the stress levels, it's not a nice experience and so very painful. Being in England lucky to have the NHS, before my gallbladder was removed my attacks became worse and would end up in hospital as an emergency. Needed strong pain relief. Do not know how you go about things in US but really hope you can get itsorted for your daughter. Just make sure no fatty foods they ars a trigger point, citrus foods and spices also.

Thank you very much. Hoping to get some results from the surgeons, we have had 4 ER visits in last 2 weeks for pain.  And she can't keep missing school, this has just gotten ridiculous, something obviously needs to be done she can't go on like this. Been trying to watch what she eats as helping but for last week pain has stayed constant with 2 bad attacks.

Wow That is very young. Change her diet to no dairy; skim milk should be ok. Lowfat foods. Drink a lot of water; it helps calm the pain. No greasy, fatty, and fried foods. Spicey foods will make it worse. Eat chicken, turkey, non fatty fish, noodles, grains, wheat, fiber, vegatables and fruits. The doctor should have given you a diet for your daughter. Did he give her medicine?  I have gallstones and will be having surgery soon myself. I know the pain hurts real bad. In high school I had a lot of pain but my doctor didn't check my gall bladder back then. I hope this helps.

Met with surgeon today, They are taking her gall bladder out tomorrow. Hoping this solves the problem and will be the start to getting back to being a teenager instead of spending her days at home in pain.

Well, my daughter had her surgery yesterday. She is sore but says the constant side pain she had is gone. She also woke up this morning wanting to eat, had some mashed potatoes and did fine. Big improvement from the past 2 weeks of waking up with a constant dull pain and being nauseous and/or puking every morning.
