Hey, I’ve been on 17.5 for last 5 weeks nervousness all morning through mid afternoon. Then when I get home sadnesses and some depression settles in. Am I ever going to feel whole again. I just feel so empty and defeated inside. I still go to work every day do my 8 hrs and then some. But I just feel like all my enjoyment in life is gone. When will med kick in?

Andrew  call your doctor and tell them maybe you need an increase or another med as well to help like klonopin. It will probably take another week or two to kick in.

I’ve got Xanax .025 mg but only in emergencies. Benzodiazepines highly addictive. I’m trying to tough it out. But it’s really making me more depressed.

By the way, how do you divide up your pills to make the 17.5? Do you cut a 20 mg pill down? I ask because I'm already guessing I'll have to go above 10 mg (I was on 40 mg citalopram  for 5 years before it quit working), and I'm wondering how I could divide a pill/s to 12.5 mg.

Hi Andrew, sorry youre still struggling,

I wanted tp ask, are you taking and other calming meds???

Cos benzos and diazepams have horrible side effects that feels like your regular symptoms from depression and anxiety,

for me , i think we should not be in a hurry to up our doses, i waited 3 weeks for 5mg to kick in, i felt normal after a month, but little anxiety here and there, then my doc was sure he needed to move me to 7.5mg which i am on right now... no panicks so far apart from the mild symptoms you get when you increase your dose.

Watch and see if in another week you do not get relief, you may have to move to 20mg, if no relief, then your doc might want to recommend something else, some drugs just dont go well for some persons, but i must stress that escitalopram is one of most recommended and well tolerated medication for anxiety and depression, dont be in a hurry to change...

    Hope u feel better soon.
