Not sure what you expect Hamid. You have just had a big operation and need to heal inside and out, it is not a quick process, if you try rushing the healing you can do more damage. seventeen days is no time yes, you will get aches and pains in various parts of your leg.
Do your exercises walk as much as possible, take care to observe your precautions and the hip will heal without too many problems but give it at least three months, slow but sure is best.

Hi hamid,
I am 14 days post op and have my wound review tomorrow, I had soluble stitches and skin glue so nothing to remove and the wound looks great. I am also walking well on one crutch and still have a slight limp probably from habit.. I am still with pain mostly knee and down to my foot, groin is a twinge now and then otherwise mainly discomfort at night and need medication to get through the night. I have been told NOT to bend too far so would not be expecting to tie shoe laces for some weeks, this is to prevent the hip dislocating in the early days.
Hope this helps but we are all different and recover at different paces as you will see on this very good forum. Good luck and keep us posted.

Hi Hamid wow you seem to be recovering fast, or maybe I am slow?
I am day 37 and still have little energy, and sleep is little.
I will be seeing my surgeon for the first time this evening and have lots of questions for him including when shall I return to work?
I am still walking with one crutch, but I think the physio will take that off me tomorrow and give me a walking stick?
I have no pain in groin or knee just a little ache in my whole body after sitting too long.
At day 17 I couldn't have even thought of work, even day 37 I am not sure when I could cope with work?
Sending love, hugs and prayers X

I had posterior RTHR on 12/26/18. I was advised to not bend more than a 90 degree angle - meaning no bending below waste. This will be for 6 months. I sleep on my back and put a throw pillow under my right leg. I have no pain while sleeping but when I get out of bed, I have exactly what you have described - groin and knee pain. I wait an hour and if it doesn't pass I take a pain med. The pain goes away and I've been walking with my dog 2 miles daily - one walk at a time. I live in a 3-story townhouse and have no difficulty with the stairs - after I take that pain med in the morning. I've read that it can take a long time for this particular pain to pass. I had both knees replaced on 9/2/11 and it was a breeze compared to this. I am healthy, active and not over-weight. I thought I'd leave the hospital and that my recovery would be a breeze. Instead, I went to in-patient rehab for a week and had in home care for 2 weeks. I think it's learning to be patient and to lower my expectations. Good luck with your recovery!

Groin and knee pain is normal for many people recovering from hip surgery. Remember that you had major surgery and recovery can take time. Do the walking and simple exercises but don't overdo it or it will set you back. I couldn't bend to tie my shoes for many weeks after surgery. Fortunately I had my husband to do that for me.
Sleeping well is an issue for many people after the surgery. I slept on a recliner for about 2 weeks. Never liked sleeping on my back prior to the surgery, but amazingly I got used to it when I slept in the bed. At some point, my doctor said it was ok to sleep on my unoperated side. I used pillows between my legs to make myself more comfortable.
As for when you can go back to work, depends on your job. Check with your doctor about your personal progress.
