1st Diverticulitis, turned Chronic

Diagnosed for the first time via CT with diverticulitis.

Send home on levo and Flagyl for 10 days.

4 days post meds symptoms returned, given 7 days amoxicillin.

Last day of meds symptoms still present. Returned to ER, CT showed no improvement, with addition of micro tear.

Admitted to hospital for 3 days IV antibiotics . Discharged on amoxicillin 14 days due to adverse reaction of IV flagyl.

On meds till not well, 5 wks into treatment of first case of diverticulitis. Vegetarian, young and otherwise healthy. Following all dietary protocols. Down 20 lbs in 5 weeks.

Specialists are saying that if this last round of antibiotics does not resolve, then surgery needs to happen right now.

Would love to hear input from individuals more experienced, any advise towards recovery or navigating this disease would be appreciated.
