You could try to start our slow.  I started at 12.5 which is half of a 25 mg I took that for a about a week before going to 25 then did another week maybe longer before going up to 35.5 it worked.

That does seem like a pretty quick increase. I started at 50 in April and the first two weeks were really hard. My doctor kept me on that dose for about 5 weeks to allow me body to adjust. Then I went to 75 for a week then 100 for about a month, 125 for a week and now on 150 for the past two weeks. Each time I increase I have some side effects lasting anywhere from a couple days to a week or longer. It seems fairly common with this med to have side effects when starting or increasing. I would recommend speaking to your doctor about moving up at a slower rate and in 25 mg increases.

Hi Karen , I think it could just be a side effect. This medication has many. I was feeling very down before I started to feel better. It has taken about 12 weeks to start feeling much butter.

I have noticed l am struggling getting to sleep , since starting Sertraline. So I take it in the morning and not before bed. I hope this will improve things.

I have also been having headaches, but they seem to be getting less.

I do think you should give the medication at least 12 weeks before you come to a conclusion regarding how u feel.

I hope things work out for you .

Ive tried so many antidepressants with exactly the same side effect and I’m fed up . Been on mirtazapine for 11 years but don’t feels it’s working any more . In the last 3 years I’ve tried citlapram venaflaxine , duloxetine and chlomipramine. My depression is the worst it’s been in 20 years and I’m beyond agitated. I’m 50 and been on antidepressants since I was 19

    Hi Karen!

This is a very common side effect, as I’ve been experiencing this every morning since I take my pill before bed. Maybe to avoid the nausea, try taking the pill with a meal if you have the appetite for that’s (many people also lose their appetite for a few weeks on this med.)
