I now have been given a boot but still non weight bearing for at least another 4 weeks and physio has given me 2 exercise to do 3 times a day. Im so scared taking my boot off because my ankle is so sore still and VERY swollen...to make matters worse im 23 weeks pregnant!! Any one wlse been given a boot rather than full plaster 2 weeks post op?? And how to cope taking the boot off and on???

I am 5 weeks post op with plate and screws with 2 syndesmotic screws that's have to be removed in 3 months. I was put into a boot at 2 weeks as well and told to do some exercises. I have 1 week to go till I get another X-ray and fingers crossed that I get the go ahead for PWB

No, I was made to stay in a fiberglass cat for 5 full week's. After having my tibia broken in 2 places and my fibula broke.. As well as it severely dislocated my same left ankle. The staples got infected bad and I was put on antibiotics. .strong ones ...two rounds....which meant I had to go in weekly and have cast removed to check for my healing in infection! Soooooi a total of 4 up to knee cast off and then right back on. Crazy! My first break ever! Very depressing. Painful and overall debilitating. Now starting 7th week I have a moon walking cast boot and only wear it out of my apt.. 3 stories up btw!...so I'm really surprised he didnt keep you in a hard cast alto longer.....

It totally depends on your break and your Ortho doc. I was out of my cast at 2 weeks and have been in a boot since! I will be 6 weeks tomorrow and hopefully PWB

Can you tell me what exercises he's having you do? I fired my Ortho. And not sure if I can just walk into a Physical Therepy or must I have a referral?

Hi,
Thanks for the lovely explanation explaining
fracture .
I had a fibula fracturethe on 11 December 2017 and doctors
informed me that I broke my calf and fibula and I need
surgery but as per doctor it will heal even when plastered
The doctors plastered me first and informed me that if it
does not heal within next 2 weeks then surgery is required.
When I came home I slipped on the floor
and also on two different occasion while using
the bathroom my foot was locked in the temporary
toilet seat .
Finally after two weeks when I went to the hospital on 29 December 2017
the doctor informed me that the bone did not join
and I require surgery .
On 29 December 2017 I went for surgery and after surgery
my leg was bandaged in cast like plaster and I got discharge on 31 December 2017.
I again went to hospital after a week on 6 Jan 2018 for dressing and left for home .
I again went to the hospital on 13 Jan 2018 to get my stitches removed . I could see staple like pins on ankle . Finally doctor did remove those metal pin and put my
leg in cast and wrapped my leg using crape bandage .
Doctor only told me to open my leg while bathing and also advised me use mustard oil or coconut oil to make legs strong and also to remove scars
from the operation .
I am not going to office from the day I was first plastered
and doctor did inform me that it will take 6 weeks to heal
after my operation that happened on 29 December 2017 .
Even after 6 weeks doctor has said that I don't have to
put my leg down on the floor and I have to only use a walker to walk .
My house is also on the second floor and there is no lift
so don't know how I will go to office .
I am just curious as how it can be fixed because I have to join my job
and even I sit at home and I don't work my company will not pay me .
I am from India so don't know if the doctor is giving me correct
advice . I would like to know how much time it will take to heal
as I need to work .
Any advice is much appreciated . My email id is
