Hiya Sean, I'm quite new to this internet chat thing. I've been on sertraline for about 2 months. Had VERY similar probs as yourself.

Doc says "give it a couple of weeks". She was right.

I do feel a bit better. Negative thoughts, etc aren't in the fore anymore. There are side effects. I think they're personal to you. Drugs effect people in different ways.

What I'd say is give it a chance for at least a month. Then chat with your MD.

      50. I actually asked for the lowest dose possible, but it seems she thought 50 was what I needed.

I was on 25mg 6 months ago but my anxiety creep back on me so went to 50 mg and just trying to get thru all these side effects

Side effects are a part of taking this kind of med.

Its all about fi ding the right med for you.

If you're having difficulty, speak with your MD. Tell them about the side effects and maybe they can recommend a med to suit.

But gie the 50's a go for a monthor so and make a decision then.

I was given 5mg of diazepam but trying not to take it.

Don't know bugger all about diazapam.

I am totally new to taking drugs "of any kind".

I've got so low in my life, CBT no longer did it. So I'm trying meds.

The sertraline " seems" to be hitting the mark.

Yes. I've been taking 50mg for about 2 months. VERY similar probs to yourself. Its chilled out a bit now.

Negative thoughts are on a low ebb. I'm getting by OK, but a bit "fraggled". Slow, thought process not as sharp as it used to be, quite lethargic, very tired when I have to use the grey matter.

I love reading but around page 13, to put it bluntly, I'm f*cked! Just wanna sleep and can't remember what I've read.

Maybe not a good advertisement for sertraline, but...truth.

    Hi sean702,

Each time I have started sertraline for anxiety, it took 6 to 8 weeks to start feeling a solid improvement. At the beginning, insomnia, anxiety and anxiety attacks were always worst which is a common side effect of SSRI. Not all the people react the same under these drugs but sertraline has saved my life.

Hope you will soon find relief. Good luck
