HI not coping at all week 5 on 5mg have had to drop down to 2.5mg, was waking up in their night, lots of anxiety, funny thought s , see how I go day 2 , sweating still on and off, very tired, slept on sofa when I get up with curtains shut, may ask doctor later in week to try something else, as I don't think 2.5mg is going to help me, I also am menopausel, as it helped anyone else, thank you

    Hi Susan,

I had a terrible time coming off Mirt and onto Escitalopram.

Sweats, anxiety, all sorts of odd things...the worst was the zonked out feeling in my head constantly..I'm not sure if it was the Mirt withdrawals or starting on Escitalapam but it was terrible.

It's taken me a long time to settle down on Escitalapam but I think I finally feel normal again...it certainly has helped my anxiety, panic attacks and phobias..it took me a long time to get up to 10mg..about 6 months or more.

Ask the doc what he thinks but sometimes it does take a few weeks for the AD to kick in before you feel any benifits.

      Hi Susan,

I did lose my appetite too...its hard for me as I can't tell which was the withdrawal from the AD I was on before and what was escitalopram..

I was on 7.5mg for nearly a year before I could get to 10mg...i was suppose to be on 20mg but that was way too much for me...i am just going up to 15mg and haven't had any symptoms yet...touch wood but I think my system is used to it now... I actually didn't have any dreams til now but terrible insomnia.

I had no appetite..lost 20kg in 6 months...I'm putting it back on now unfortunately..I did have cold feet and aching legs at night.

I think we all react differently so will get different symptoms ..some people get no symptoms at all...I had nausea and sweating too..all settled down now but it did take about 6 weeks

Susan.. I’ve been trying to find the right combination also.. I’m menopausal also but can not use bio  natural hormone for my body does not break down estrogen so I use a progesterone cream.. I’ve had a complete hysterectomy.. but it does some good but Lexapro idk.. I’ve been trying to find the right combo of mg. Sense Dec. and I’ve not found it yet do I have bumped back down from 15 to 12.5 to 10.0 to 7,5mg. Which I have been on dense Saturday.. I’m just having this choking thing which gets old but it seems like that is a side effect of lexapro.. but most everything else is good.. within reason.. I’m not asking for miracles .. I just want to b able to enjoy life...what do u ladies and anyone else that wants to add words of wisdom .. Thanks a lot.. I don’t know if 7.5 r even 5 mg. Of lexapro May work sense I’ve been on 10 mg for about 11 weeks...

It took me ages to feel any better on lexapro but I was suffering really badly with that choking feeling before taking lexapro and this has helped...i took 7.5 for a year before I could move up to 10mg and now am going to 15mg.. apparently 7.5 isn't a medicinal dose according to the doc. But I couldn't go to 10 without feeling like my head was going to fall off..so bad the feeling..

Gina.. I to suffer from the choking thing ... Has it went away for you.. I went up to 15 mg. and it only made it worse plus more heart burn and indigestion ..I've not went down to 7.5mg. And I'm wait for the withdrawal symptoms to hit.. Do u know about what day they start after bumping down..?

Its weird isn't it....i had the choking thing before Lexapro and it's much better now I'm on Lexapro...so it's odd that it's giving you this...I know my anxiety made it much worse and laying down at night was really bad...i've had stomach trouble too...I'm on a PPI which has helped but I really have to watch what I eat..I only stuck with Lexapro because it's supposed to have the least side effects and no weight gain..

I've not had withdrawals from Lexapro but did when I changed from Mirt to Lexapro because the doc made me go cold turkey from one to the other..never again...it has taken 15 months for me to get to this point of feeling half normal again

I know from what I've read from other people that it usually takes about a week or 2 before the withdrawals start...I hope you don't get any...

Is there a time when you get symptoms from going up?

I've just gone up to 15 from 10 this last week....hot sweats is all i've had so far.

If you do a drop, your best off to try and do no more than 10% of what your taking at a time..stay on that for 2 weeks and then drop another 10%....that way you give your brain time to adjust each time...so if you have trouble with withdrawals, try a bit slower..😊

About day 4 and it hits as far as bumping up.. When I bumped down from 15 to 12.5 which I was only on 4 days and I knew it was way to much then when I was on 12.5 I went 2 weeks then bumped down to 10 mg that's been 4 weeks ago.. I noticed every time I took my morning 5 mg. the choking would hit.. Not so bad at night when I take my 5mg. So I chose to take away 2.5 of the 5 mg. I take of the am... I've felt sooo much better sense I've took that 2.5 mg. away from the 5 mg. of the am.. This is day 5 of the bump down... So I'm thinking by sat. I'll have symptoms r it may take a couple of weeks for it to hit for I've been on 10 mg for 12 weeks...everyone reacts and acts different on Lexapro .. But we have some guides lines from other patients that take it which is a Good thing.. Thanks a lot...😊
