2 Days Ago OB/GYN visually confirmed genital herpes...so many questions

3 days ago I felt some bumps around my labia. If course it got me worried but it was too late to visit the OB/GYN. So I went the next day I went he visually confirmed I had genital herpes. And I believe I have it cause by today the bumps have become almost like pimple looking things better said sores. Now here's where my questions come. I met my boyfriend 6 months ago and we've been having unprotected sex for almost 3 months. I asked him yesterday after what I've found out assuming he's the one that got me infected...he got tested a month after we met and tested negative for everything...but he's the only person I've had sex with in the past year so what are the possibilities of him having herpes?? Also it makes me nervous to have to sit down and talk to him about this because I care very much for him and I fear losing him so how do I go about telling him??

Also (I doubt it) but is it possible to have herpe like symptoms with out having it?? I guess I'm still trying to remain hopeful since I don't get results for about a week and a half. And I've learned you can your first outbreak after two weeks of getting the disease so I don't want to assume he gave it to me but we've only had sex with eachother so can I assume he gave it to me??

Before talking to your bf, get a proper diagnosis by swab test. I trust your doctor swabbed the sores for herpes. If not, go back asap and insist on a swab test (accuracy diminishes over time).
Better to know for sure what you have before having the talk. At least that's what I'd do, otherwise imagine all the upset caused over a possible misdiagnosis (your doc may well be right, but visual diagnoses are not 100% when it comes to herpes, plus you should find out your HSV type if it is herpes).
I would also do the IgG antibody tests for HSV1 and HSV2 for baseline purposes. If negative but your swab is positive, then it's a very new infection from your bf. If positive, you have had it for 3+ months, so could be from your bf or before, although most first outbreaks do occur within a week of infection.
As for your bf, did you see his lab results? Most STD panels do not cover herpes unless specifically requested.

Even if they tested him for everything the only way you can get tested for GH is by a swab test. That is what my doctor has told me.
As for being nervous about it, if he really loves and cares about you this won't bother him, for sure it's going to make your sex life a little different though. I got it from my boyfriend by him having cold sores and having oral sex,so he knows that i didn't screw around on him. It all just comes down to trust and unfortunately all you can really do is hope for the best outcome.

Update: Still havent gotten my results and my sores are going down, I can walk and look normal with no pain, once in a while of course lol. Even though It still hasnt been confirmed, I'm coming to terms with the fact that I have it. He prescribed to me Valacyclovir, and the only use for that is for the herpes virus and chciken pox. So that's kind of like the last nail on the coffin for me. (Why would he prescribe it if I don't have it?) Anyways, I started to think about how my sex life will change...any insight?
