Hi I hope someone will have been through this and can advise. Without giving you a long story I had suffered with depression negativity anxiety my whole life I have had acne since a teenager, headaches, flatulence bloating and on and on always being sick my oldest school friend always laughs about how much I was sick as a child. Dignoised with IBS after coughing up blood and rectal bleeding and on antidepressants etc etc etc
I have never been dignoised or tested for gluten I tolerance before and in have only recently make a connection after having nutella on toast everyday for a week (I'm thin very thin but eat loads) always hungry) i recently made the connection that it maybe was bread and waffles or my antidepressants. My docotors said just before Xmas it was unlikely my antidepressants and asked about my diet had changed and at the time I release
I have recently had the worst cronic bloating flatulence low mood etc and i went gluten free 2 days ago (I have literally tried everything over the last 3 months) surprise suprise in feel so much better already. I am breaking out in my face which I think it nu acne clearing and i now feel to happy and in can't sleep in think the glue free in working so we'll that my antidepressants are too strong I feel like I have alot of adrenaline running through my body and my heart rate is alot faster (I have a fitbit) i take 50mg of sertaline.
I have an appointment with my docotor tomorrow should i come of sertaline or lower my dose I feel like I'm loosing my mind it's like when I first started sertaline!
Anyone else had this experience I'm not sure what best to do?

Sorry to hear you have been suffering so long.
I also suffered so many different illnesses and was eventualyl put on antidepressants. After almost 9 years I have finally been diagnosed as Coeliac. My initial blood tests came back negative because I had already stopped eating gluten. The Gastroenterologist I was eventually referred to did genetic testing and a week later I had a positive diagnosis. It was not the end of the story as I now also have IBS and other dietry sensitivity. However, 18 months gluten free and I have been very well and improving all the time. I gradually weaned myself off the antidepressants and luckily I was fine. I hadn't been on them very long but please be careful because I think you can be very ill coming off them. I would suggest that you insist your gp to refer you to a Gastroenterologist asap. GPs know little or nothing about Coeliac and many other specific illnesses and many are happy to fob patients off. No wonder antibiotics and antidepressants are so over prescribed.....they shut people up and keep them out of waiting rooms not mention the financial incentives doctors recieve from the pharmaceutical industry to keep dishing them out.
In short if you are not getting answers from your gp ask to see a specialist and don't be fobbed off. Try to talk to a relative or friend as I'm sure these symptoms must feel very frightening and you need support.
I do hope you get to the bottom of all this soon.
Best wishes
Lyn

I also quite smoking 8 days ago so my body is going through hell right now.
I'm not going to leave the docotors without a referral tomorrow as I want to know i will stay gluten free as it clearly agrees with me but I want to know what I'm dealing with.
I feel happy just a too happy like manic so maybe I need to start reducing the dosage I'm tough enough to handle the withdrawal I just want to feel like a healthy happy person for the first time in 28 years! I'm excited that I think I have finally found the answer after just 2 days of no gluten and 8 of no smoking I feel amazing.
I haven't slept in about 4 days for any longe r than 3 hours a night and my heart rate is too high so something has to be done I'm scared ill explode haha

Stay ON gluten, as advised! It's necessary for now and up until all testing is finished. Stay OFF cigarettes (good for you!)
Also, ask your doctor about the connection between Coeliac Disease and it's effect on mental health. It's possible that if you have this and your gut heals, you won't need anti-depressant medication any more. That's jumping ahead months (maybe a year), but there's a possibility that malapsorption from CD could lead to the emotional symptoms you describe, as well as physical.
Two days off gluten is not enough to reverse Coeliac damage, but it could throw off test results. So, keep eating wheat/gluten and good luck at the dr. and with your tests!
