Hi Dory, I am at 2 & a bit weeks post op and I also had period like bleeding. I don't think it is anything to worry about. Some days I am experiencing spotting and other days I have normal bleeding, but have realised this is when I have tried to do more than I should. Take all advice given and make sure that you rest. Take care & god bless.

I would call your surgeons secretary and ask if normal. I'm 3 weeks post op and still have pain but no bleeding. X

    Hey!

I had a laparoscopy almost 6 weeks ago to remove a bunch of really big cysts and insert a Mirena IUS. My surgeon prepared me for the bleeding - it sounds much the same as yours, and I still have spotting. Dr. said the spotting could continue for up to 6 months, lucky me. But yeah, I bled a lot after the operation, it took a couple of weeks to die down a bit. I thought mine was because of the IUS, but I don't really know if it is. I was told it's normal for me. I think you should call your surgeon and double check, just in case it isn't normal. Do you have enough medication for the pain? I would ask about that too - there's no need for you to be hurting unnecessarily. I also found that (when you can shower - I recomend sitting down the first time) warm water helped with the shoulder and chest pain caused by the gas, as did shoulder massages. When I was in hospital we found out that I was responding badly to anything with oxycodone in it, so I stayed on paracetamol and ibuprofen during my recovery. I called my surgeon a couple times with problems - one of them was about the bleeding. He was lovely and helpful, and I'm sure yours will be too. smile

So yeah, summary: it's probably normal, but I'm not a doctor so you should call your surgeon just to double check. Take it easy! I hope you feel better soon!! smile

Hi I hope your feeling better soon. I asked my gynae surgeon the same thing and he reassured me it's perfectly normal and it settled within the week after surgery.
