Congratulations on being a younger hippie, it seems there's loads having it younger and by younger, is it that people do more high impact exercise compared to years ago, or just bones are wearing out quicker??? Hope you have many pain free on nights

I am only 47 and had a hip replacementI had an abnormal socket and my leg was shorter so it deteriorated much quicker than normal.  I've never been able to do much sports as I was always clumsy and was never athletic.

      Good for you!

You may find a heating pad soothing...it will also warm the muscles making then easier to move

      kind regards

      Hi Michelle,

My right femur is 3 cm shorter than my left femur.

You can cause many more problems than a hip if you do not balance yourself.

First, have a physical therapist properly measure the length of both legs.

If the difference is less than 1 cm simply purchase heel lifts for your regular shoes.

If the leg length discrepancy is more than 1 cm, I find mule sneakers the easiest to build up.

I remove the inner sole, add the lift(s) and try wraring the shoe for a while at home. Your foot will speak if it needs adjustment.

Just remember, the higher the lift the longer the lift must be. My leg length discrepancy is marked, so I purchase Skecher's D'lites mule sneakers so that the elastic over the instep can hold the shoe on my foot. These sneakers have a difference in the sole thickness between the toe of the shoe and the heel of the shoe where it is thicker.

      May you recover quickly

      kind regards

      judith
