2 month lighteheadness after a chiro neck adjustment, please advise

Hi all,

About two months ago, I had a chiro neck adjustment, though I never had any neck pain or headache before, He just manipulated right away without i even noticed! Twenty minutes later, I started to feel dizzy and all kinds of flu-like symptoms. Now two months after, I feel lightheaded 24/7, it's like the car sick feeling. I have a sore neck and a dull headache that are both only on my right side. I have difficulties focus on the computer work or writing, as I will start feeling dizzy right away( not the spinning dizziness, but the swaying feeling). I occasionally have fingers tingling and arm weakness, again, all on my right side. I had a CTA with contrast to rule out possible artery dissection, but the dizziness never subside.  This is my first chiro visit, and I do not dare to go back, my life is ruined totally, please help! I have so much pain right now.

    Hi sian,

Sorry to hear this is happening to you. It sounds awful. The swaying you have is vertigo. I currently have had it for 3 weeks now and I am not working because of it but I am seeing a physiotherapist who specialise in headaches and it seems to be helping. I saw an osteopath who totally wrecked me for a bit before I got help from

The physio but my symptoms are most likely a result of poor posture and a very stiff neck

No! Do not go back to the Chiro!!  I wouldn’t say he's done something to bring this on as it is to coincidental for this to happen soon afterwards. can I  ask why you had your neck adjusted, the reason for seeing the Chiro?

You probably should, start by seeing your GP, explain how it happened. They may just refer you for physio To correct it, but it won’t be hands on. Or maybe an X-ray to see if anything has affected your neck? I'd do that first. Also if you are getting tingling your GP should refer you to a neurologist for other tests.

      Hi Gillian

I went to Chiro because I always had tingling in my toes( MRI on my lumber  is clear). Then he adjusted both my back and neck. It's a nightmare.

I am going to see a physio soon, just wanna know if anyone could shed light on this. My GP said it could be a cervicogenic dizziness, and I should get better as time goes. But I am still in so much pain every day.

Hi, just to first correct myself it should read 'would  have', predictive text!.  I used,to,use chiros years ago, but not now, not even Osteos. Your GP sounds on the ball asmto it poss being cervical induced dizziness. Butmif your neck,is that painful let’s hope the physio can sort that for, you. I actually use a Bowen therapist now as it's gentle but effective. concentrates,on the nerves and muscles. I have bad neck and lower back too.  See how,you go,with physio. Meanwhile use heat pads on your neck which is what I do when mine is hurting.
