2 weeks

So it's been two weeks since I started taking Amitriptyline, and i'm not sure if i'm feeling anything from it.

My parents said that they have noticed an improvement in my mood and attitude.

But my Anxiety nausea is still present, and I ended up vomiting this morning.

My CT scan results arrived, there were no problems with my stomach and everything looked fine. My gastroenterologist said that he was happy to schedule another appointment to see how I was doing.

I personally don't feel much of a change in my mood, I still feel anxious and depressed, the nausea is irritating the hell out of me, and my appetite is still pretty low.

I'm planning to visit my doctor as well to see if they could possibly up my dosage, I'm currently on 20mg.

I just hope things can improve.

      Hi Robert,

Im sorry to hear that you have not had any relief yet. Have you spoken to your doctor about seeing a GI specialist? Perhaps the anxiety is caused by all the worrying and what not about what is going on.  Maybe you have a motility issue or perhaps h.pylori infection or an ulcer, acid issues etc. Might be worth checking into.

      Hi Tiffany,

I have seen a GI specialist, who recommended that I have a CT scan and a stool test. Both results said that everything was normal. My GI specialist was also the one who recommended amitryptiline.

I'm not really sure what else I can do now, I've talked to my doctor. Who upped my dosage to 30mg yesterday, and I still haven't felt any relief. I'm visiting my GI specialist on Friday for a follow up appointment. So I'll have to tell him that the amitryptiline isn't helping.

I'll ask and see what my GI specialist recommends. It's possible that he might want me to have an endoscopy.

Thats a good idea Robert. I would definitely request the endoscopy and maybe an emptying test - just in case the underlying issue is not anxiety. Hopefully you find some answers and are on the mend soon smile

Hi guys! Everyone is different. Just give the medication time. I've been on 20mg for over 3 years. It took i would say 3 months before it started to work with me.

Not within the first month. I slept well but other than that still felt groggy, unbalanced & heavy headed. As i say, it took a good 3 months with me before i noticed any results.

Ive now been on ami for 3 &1/2 years now. I know some dont like it, but its working for me.

I've been taking them for 2 weeks now. And I haven't even felt sedated. Which is a pain because I could do with something to calm the anxiety down.

If your not feeling any benefit say after another 2 weeks, go back to your GP. Ive had success with them but they dont work for everyone.
