2 weeks after surgery!

Hi all!! It's been 2 week since surgery and I'm great!

The day of the surgery my doctor was telling me I could go home...after I see physical therapy and they have me walk and teach me steps...yes he was gonna let me go home the same day of the surgery! That's like crazy!! I didn't push it with physical therapy and we only walked the first day...so I knew I'd be staying which was fine...I like hospital food anyway!! Yes I'm one of those weird ones! Was released the second day...not really in pain meds. Just norco 10mg like twice a day...the only pain I've been having is the muscle down the front of my thigh...it's like it's tight and doesn't like to be stretched...I'm walking with out any aid...I was using 2 crutches out of the hospital ...and for the first 2-3 days...then switched to one...and after..9 days ...nothing...I don't have a limp which is great! But I don't walk normal yet either...I'm still trying to get used to the hip..i haven't really been (big) walking yet...just trips to the doctors with the kids physicals and a trip to the mall... I go for my 3 week check up on Thursday...I will talk to the doctor about walk long distances then...my in home physical therapist which was 4 visits said I was doing great and that she didn't need to come anymore...now I'm gonna start out- patient therapy!!🤗

Wow Snowgirl! It is great to hear you are doing so well - right after suregery and after only two weeks.

I didn't do nearly that well, but I am 64 and hadn't been as active as I would have liked with extended chronic pain for close to 2 years before my surgery so my fitness level was not great.

Please be careful as the recovery curve does not always continue in a forward direction. But bravo for you!

Well done you. I sort of had the same quick recovery with my 1st leg when l got him from hospital l could walk with no sticks l just walked around the house l felt really good. I was doing myvm PT everyday and was out a walk with my husband about a week later just round about where l live. I was 42 at the time and thought my recovery was amazing. I needed my other leg done as l was still getting OA pain so all l wanted was ti get the other side done. I felt ready 5 weeks after the first. But had to wait until feb 15th. Which would be 8 weeks after the 1st. I had it done.

Totally diffrent this time it felt diffrent from the word go but again l had a great recovery l was driving 4 to 5 weeks after again l could walk without sticks from start. But l was trying to run before l could walk.

I realised this weekend l am far from being fully recovered after pushing my body to do normal life l went out on saturday for a 40th dinner then deove to a shopping centre walked round it got a few things then drove to e retail park and was in a couple of big stores.

So l had been on the go since 9 in morning got home at 6 at night and omg l hit a brick wall l could hardly move l was crying l took painkillers right away and lay on couch. It was to much.

So l am over the moon your recovery is going great but just be careful as l thiougg the same but l now realise taking my painkillers masks a lot of how l actually feel. And l am stilk very reliant on my pain meds and had missed my mid day ones on saturday which showed me what l was really like.

Keeo it uo but don't push your body to hard l have had both hips repaced since december l an driving and walking without sticks but inside l am still healing even though l thought l was back to normal. I am only running at 60% l still have a long way to go..i am still off my work and wont be going back for another couple of months as advised by my surgeon as its a desk job and l find it hard to sit for 2 hrs never mind 7hrs a day.

But keep it up girl you have age on your side you are doing great.

Thank you Laura!! I will definitely keep that in mind... Just being in bed last night.. I was getting up and something on the operated side... I don't know... Felt like a stitch ripping!! But that impossible because the pain is coming from the middle of my outside thigh... No where near the incision sight... Pulled muscle maybe?? I've been icing it but the sting is still there... It's weird this pain came from just getting it of bed! Lol I don't do anything crazy! Just walk around the house... Cook a little do a little laundry.. (I don't even lift it my 15 year old son does) I guess I just have to be more careful.. Thanks Laura!
