2 Weeks Post A&P Repair

Hello all!

I am 2 weeks post anterior, posterior and perineal repair.

I am recovering well. Perineum is occasionally tender, sometimes a little achy in my bum if I sit for too long but otherwise feeling pretty good!

I was told 2 weeks of doing nothing (which I did and I think my brain has turned to mush from all the Netflix!). Then 2 weeks of slowly increasing my daily activities. Then 2 weeks of getting back to normal.

I'd love some advice on what I can safely do for the next 2 weeks. I know not to lift anything heavier than 2kgs. But can I squat down to pick a sock off the floor? Can I bend down to pick up a sock? Can I start to cook meals? How far should I be walking? Can I make the bed? Walk the dog?

I am feeling pretty much back to normal (apart from some lingering tiredness) so am wary of doing too much, too soon. What sort of activitites increase intra-abdominal pressures and therefore puts strain on the repairs?

Thanks in advance for any words of wisdom.

    hi

I'd advice against any lifting, bending pushing, walking dogs u till at least 8 weeks.

yiu have had a lot of work done and a heck of a lit of stitches that need healing. it takes up to 6 weeks for e external stitches to heal a d 12 weeks for scar tissue to form. this scare tissue is what gives the repair its strength.

the doctors do not give realistic recovery times and to say yiu can Hoover or lift at 6 weeks is definitely not the case.

my first anterior repair failed at around 3 weeks and I was sooo strict with my healing, thus time I was paranoid, i still will not Hoover or lift anything heavier than 2 pints of milk.

i am slim and otherwise healthy but this OP really makes yiu think about what yiu should do.

bending is definitely out for up to 3 months, however i used a grabber to pick up light items off floor.

remember you have one chance of healing. good luckx

bending, swatting,Doing bed, hoovering, gardening ,walking dogs should be avoided incase they pull you.

yiu should be just resting and small walks up to 6 weeks.
