2 weeks post op Anterior approach

I made an entry a week ago saying I wasn’t feeling like I was making much progress and was still very sore.  Well, now that I’m a couple weeks into recovery I am getting much more relief.  Thigh pain (which was pretty intense) is virtually gone.  I still have stiffness in my hip a bit, but not that bad.  I’m trying to walk more and more and I know that’s why I’ve gotten so much better.  I can go with just a cane around the house and feel pretty comfortable.  I honestly think the key is to get up and walk as much as you can.  Even if it’s for 3 minutes, sit for 1/2 hour, walk for 2 minutes, sit for an hour, walk for 5 minutes, etc.  I think just the random movement is the best thing you can do.  A week ago, I was not feeling good about my progression.  Today, much better..hope this helps the ones that are just coming off surgery.

Way to go Keith, sounds like you're taking a sensible approach that works, congratulations.  Might I ask- where are you located?

Great to hear Keith! You hit the nail on the head, get out and walk. I walked so much the first 6 weeks that I just about wore out a pair of shoes. I'm at 14 weeks today and I feel great! Keep up the good work!

Sounds good Keith! I definitely agree, I was told that walking was the best thing to do. All the best Judith

That's exactly what I did too. Walked up and down our driveway 2 or 3 times a day and sometimes just from room to room in the house. But outside made me feel better. I'm so glad you are feeling better. Keep it up. I am 9 weeks post op, anti approach also. I can do just about anything I want to at this point. And no hip pain at all. It's a miracle.

I, too, am 2 weeks today out of anterior approach. I was walking unaided the day of surgery. I am working out on bike and treadmill regularly. Saw DR. yesterday. Said all was good. I’m very happy.

Hi Keith, I am just into my third week post-op and I also struggled with pain for the first week and a half. I really couldn't see it improving. Now I am pain free and itching to get back to exercise. I still have some odd muscle spasms in operated leg at night followed by a bit of a dull ache but this doesn't last long. It's fantastic to be pain free. Hope this helps others who are in week one or two post-op.
