2 weeks post partial knee (patellofemoral replacement)

Hi. So I am two weeks post partial knee surgery. I am in my 40s and generally fit and healthy. I am really struggling with the home physio because of a tight, numb feeling from above my knee to just below. I thought it was the feeling of the bandage but that was taken off a week ago. I have the glue adhesive tape and a dressing over the top. I am not sure if the dressing is tight and limiting my movement. I am worried about nerve damage. I am wondering if I will even be walking without crutches in 4 weeks when I am supposed to return to work. There is an improvement in pain since the op but I just can't get around this tight feeling in my knee - it is like my skin is too taut for the leg. Has anyone had this and has it eased?

My knee replacement was in 2017 and the skin over my knee still seems tight but doesn't interfere or bother with my walking. The scar tissue under the skin prevents my knee from feeling and discourages me from resting on it, such as on the bed. Breaking up the scar tissue can alleviate some of this.

2 weeks is very early so keep doing your physio especially the knee slides to help loosen up the knee. I had a partial last July and it wasn't quite the quick recovery I was lead to believe in the stories I'd read. it can still take a good few months for things to heal etc. plenty of advice on this forum.

Thank you both for replying I am at 3 weeks now and I know I am definitely improving. The numb area is slowly reducing. I am finding it easier to lift my foot onto the step to do that physio exercise. What I can't do is lift my foot from a seated position. It just won't move! It is like it is not my foot. I have the strength in my quads as I can lift my foot/leg from my hip in a standing position and can walk (with crutches) and weight-bear but my foot won't lift from the knee while seated. The phyiso thinks its partly psychological and partly my muscles have 'forgotton' that movement. Hopefully it will improve in the next few weeks
