2 weeks post surgery, Lumpy?

Posted , 4 users are following.

I had my surgery 2 weeks ago. So far recovery is manageable. Everything seems to be working ok. I had a follow up a week after and she said all looks great. I had a vaginal hysterectomy with only ovaries remaining. Also everything had fallen so prolapse repairs for everyone! My main question is regarding the area between front and back. A lot of discomfort sitting that got a little better after that first major BM. I still can feel a lumpy weird place on the area between front and back, At first I was freaking out thinking that a very hard BM had gotten lodged in a pocket or something, but the BMs are fine now and that hard lump is still there. I had googled it and thought that I found a forum with some ladies discussing it as if it were the inside stitches and normal. That was an old post, 2014ish. Anyone else have a lumpy stitches area they can feel from the outside?

    Hi,

it's very early in your recovery and you will still be swollen for a while yet. I didn't check inside till I was going for my 6 week follow up and I was lumpy then and my stitches were just starting to dissolve so it all takes time. I felt as though the whole pelvic floor area was hanging low and could feel it when I sat down but after about 6 or 7 weeks doing my exercises it seemed to tighten up and was fine. I thought it was probably due to slack muscles and swelling.

As most ladies on here will tell you, you do need to rest even if you feel fine so that your body can repair itself.

Agree with Anne. You wont feel fully healed for at least 6 weeks . The places that have been cut and sutured take time to feel normal again...they will be swollen and bruised so just be patient, and as Anne says make sure you do those Pelvic Floor exercises . you should still be taking it easy and resting as much as possible.

Thanks ya'll. I get it. I haven't checked inside yet. The place is under the perineal area, between front and back. From the outside is is lumpy and uncomfortable to sit on. It was quite jagged feeling but seems to be less jagged now and easier to sit on. I am thinking that it is the stitches on the inside from the rectocele repair since it is in that area between front and back. My surgery was repairing everything since it all was prolapsed plus a hysterectomy leaving only ovaries, plus the sacrospinous attachment (spelling sorry). My hospital nurse said it was "the special" LOL. I work only 5ish hours a day as office manager, and will go back on Tuesday. Only working till I am tired or need out of my desk chair. Very easy. I wish I could get on my riding mower! Afraid of all that vibration!! So bored.

Yep,that sounds like rectocele repair sutures. they often stitch the perineum if the rectocele is low in the vagina. Dont go overdoing it Michele......you dont want the good work being undone. Its so easy to think you are up to working because of boredom but it really does take a long time for all those tissues to feel normal again. Be prepared to be more tired than you are expecting...you have had a lot of surgery there.

Thank you!! Very helpful! I will definitely take it easy. Starting a new Netflix series today!!

Ya'll are so kind and helpful. I want this recovery to be super successful. I am 56 and happy to have it all put back in place! It has been annoying for over 10 years.
