Hello.i had carpel tunnel decompression on my right hand almost 2 wks ago and stitches are due to come out Thursday and my dr will let me.lnow I'd I can return to work.

I do a lot of typing on computer as I work on a phramacy and my kob does involve me lifting but manager knows I can't.

I drove a little yesterday and i could feel my hand stretching now my hand just feels tender and aches and just weak.

How long have others been off work for?

I was off for 6 weeks after a 3rd surgery and I don't think that was really long enough.  I started having a return of symptoms within 8-10 weeks after returning to work.  I was a bank teller and was on the computer all day long.  I am now no longer working because my hands got so painful.

Don't go back to work until you're sure you can handle the typing and lifting . If you go back too soon you may ruin the chance of a full recovery . Your health is the most important thing to consider when planning to return to work . I am retired so returning to work was not an issue . It's almost 3 years since my op and I have had no problems . Take things easy and recover in your own time , you can't rush recovery .

Yeah after the op they gave me a sick note for 6wks. Which is standard for a manual worker in UK. 2weeks for an office worker. Though if you have to lift heavy things you will struggle. I couldn’t even use a tin opener after 2wks had to ask the neighbour to open it for me.lol.

    Good luck with your recovery.
