2 years now I've been complaining about fatigue

No one will listen! The Drs. Blow me off as a hypochondriac! My mother had RA w/ Felty's Syndrome and I KNOW how important early diagnosis is. I push thru the fatigue until my throat is so tight from trying not to cry. I get white areas on my gums when I flare, I have low grade fever, if it's not RA it is at very least something auto immune, right? Help!

Amlcrazy - Have you been overseas the last few years, do you have something exotic.

Here in Australia we have a nasty mosquito virus, that can be recurring, Ross River Fever, you end up with arthritis like symptoms.

False negative's are not unusual with Ross River, so its hard to get even a correct result.

I believe that what may have triggered my arthritis, but no way of proving one way or the other, always comes back negative for Ross River, as well as a dozen more.

No, I'm in the States, actually about as far from exotic as you can get - I'm in Kansas! Don't get me wrong, it's beautiful here, but I only have to drive a few hours to see great beauty in the Rocky Mtns. That's all the travel I need. šŸ˜† Rocky Mtn tick/Lyme disease would be more likely. Hoping to get some definitive answers soon.

The 2 SED rate was in 2013. I haven't been tested since then - I assume because that one came back negative.

    Dear AmICrazy.

The test that finally proved I WASN"T crazy was the ANA test.

(Antinuclear Antibody Test) sometimes referred to as FANA

(Flourescent Antinuclear Antibody Test) Check your records to see if you have ever been given one. You can read all about it online.

I like you suffered from crippling fatigue and a whole list of other issues.

A girl I work with has Lupus in her family and she told me to insist onĀ a ANAĀ test specifically. I did and the test came back positive and I was imediately referedĀ to a Rhuematologist who tested further..SSA and SSB and found Sjogrens Syndrome and most lately Lupus Arthritis which mimics RA. (There are over 100 different types of Arthritis)

Because of the Sjogrens and mild Lupus I was started on Plaquenil and after 6 months felt 80% better! I know you are not crazy. You just have to insist to your doctor that you are predisposed to Autoimmune disease because of genetics. You are experiencing symptoms and you want a definitive answer. This test can determine whether a Rhuematoligist is necessary. Good luck and feel better,

    Sally
