2 years of throat clearing, thick mucus and post nasal drip sensation (allergy/reflux/nerve?)

Hello,
Suffering for 2 years with sensation of thick mucus stuck at the back of the nose, which I'm often able to hock up out of my mouth (clear but very "snotty" and like thick glue when it's in a tissue).
Sometimes it gets in my throat and I often clear my throat all day long too. I guess this is post-nasal drip, but not watery or thin (like you apparently get from an allergy), it's very thick and feels awful like a lump or glob that won't move, until I hock it up, but within minutes it's back again...
Tried all reflux and allergy medications (double-dose PPIs, steroid sprays, allergy RAST tests, antihistamines, singulair, antihistamine sprays, nasal irrigation, gastrocopy, multiple nasal/throat endoscopes, sinus CT scans), and they can't identify the problem... All of my symptoms disappear completely, when I eat or lay down with my head to either side (which I find very odd! Equally, if I take pseudoephridrine (oral decongestant), my symptoms go too (but I know that's not a long term option).
Anyone ever dealt with anything similar or know what to suggest next?I've been thinking of self-treating with amitriptyline (10mg at night) and gabapentin (100mg 3x per day), to see if this is a hypersensitivity/nerve issue. I have absolutely no other symptoms and can't live much longer like this, it's completely ruined my life and things are just getting worse
Thanks for any help at all.

I use saline mist followed by Fluticasone Propionate 50mcg spray and Oxymetazoline Hcl 0.05%. This provides some temporary relief.
This has become a nightly routine and is effecting my sleep, causing tiredness during the day.

This problem has only presented itself in the past year....”while” I’m taking Gabapentin.

I know mine isint related to anxiety, I’m not anxious or stressed about anything that I know of, but just to rule it out, I got some GABA and took it for a while with no change. As for the yeast infection, that is just a way to restrictive way to live, that’s not even living. I could do it for a short while, but for the rest of my life? No way! For now, I have cut back on sugar, and am trying Tums after eating. Some days are better than others, but honestly sometimes it just doesn’t seem to matter WHAT I eat, or even if I DONT eat, I still get the phlegm even on an empty stomach. Some days, I feel like I have a sore throat from so much clearing.😫

It's amazing to me how many people will run to a surgeon or put drugs in your body, rather than look at their diet. SUGAR and FRUCTOSE is the culprit, and worth going without for a week and see if your condition improves. IT DID FOR ME. A congested liver will scream for help, are you listening?
Cut desserts, snacks, breakfast cereals, sugar in your coffee, honey in your tea, sweets of all types, alchohol (especially beer), and all carbohydrates like pasta, potatoes, corn and rice. No processed snacks like chips or crisps. No fruits.
DO eat eggs, meat, fish and vegetables ONLY. No sweetened sauces. NO salad dressings.
You will see a huge difference! Otherwise, hack-a-way!

I was very interested to read your response as it makes a lot of sense. I read up about candida and it is a logical explanation for the mucus in throat symptom.
So i started cutting all sugars and carbs; I am on my third day. hard to tell yet if it is helping and the sugar detox is not easy! May I ask how long it took you until you felt relief from the mucus symptoms?
Also, what dose of oil of oregano did you use? I am using some but maybe not enough, and also taking strong probiotics.
Thanks a lot.

Again sounds all similar to experiences, I had severe deviated septum where I could not actually breathe through my nose so was mouth breathing for over 25 years. Finally had to have operation couple of years ago as it really affected me so much that I constantly felt like I had a cold which would not disappear and having sinus issues.
Finally after op (8 months later after full recovery) I noticed the difference breathing through nose was amazing. But soon after started to notice the post nasal drip which at first I did not know what it was a put it down to being run down, cold and the post op recovery as I was advised by consultant post op recovery it could take between 6-18 months to fully recover. Not sure if it’s a coincidence but after having the OP I noticed post nasal drip.
As it did not clear I went to see GP and described to them my problem who said it sounds like Post nasal drip this is the first time I had heard of this and was prescribed avamist to see if it would relieve the symptoms. Have been to the GP numerous times since then and have been referred to consultant. When I saw consultant and described my problem I was prescribed with avimist and another stronger nasal steroid only to take for 8 weeks, which has made no difference, now waiting to see consultant again as it has made no change.
I hate this constant throat and back of palate clearing, night time coughing, bad taste and smelly mouth. Have also noticed that I tend to get colds and coughs more frequently. My throat provides me with a pre warning to tell me that I am going to get a cold as when I wake up I have a severe ache in my throat and is very dry and by the next day have a fully blown cold. I still sleep with mouth open even though I make a conscious effort to close my mouth - habit for 25 years since I could not breath through nose, not sure how to break this habit as during the night nose starts feeling dry and makes it uncomfortable to breathe.
Waiting on next appointment and shall see what the next steps are.

Have your teeth check as mouth breathing dries out your mouth as we all know and a dry mouth leads to tooth decay and if you have or had a root canal their is a possibility that an infection has set in under crown, you would not have any pain until it progress to jaw bone as they kill the root.that is just a thought I’ve been trying to get to the bottom of mine and my twin health issues also Sjögren disease is a thought ,doctor started me on sudafed to thin out mucus and a mouth and nose steamer with eucalyptus sold at Walmart 28 dollars it’s been 4 hours and I can breath thought nose I set up steamer after taking meds and just let steam do it’s trick at first mucus was so thick I put tissue in path of steam so it was moist and message it in my nose once mucus was moving I filled well of streamer about 4 times and low and behold it stared coming out hope it keeps working as I’m scared to hope but so far so good and then after thinning out mucus 2 days then use afren for only 3 days drinks tons of water then daily allergies meds whatever doctor inform you on this is what I did and it’s working if you find anything that works please let me know good luck hope you find what works for you ,I know what you are going thought it lonely and sad to suffer hang in there ,)
