    Hey Ivan,

have you been tested for diabetes? That's normally linked to frequent urination. It's not really a sign of CKD. CKD symptoms are itchy skin, weight loss, poor appetite and fluid retention. I see you said your ankles swell but that could be a lot of things related to kidneys a well.

I'm CKD4 (kidney function about 15%) and it's not great, but some weeks I feel OK. It's not easy to say what your problem may be on here, you really need to get blood works done by the doctor.

    good luck!

    Hi,

I would agree with what matt has to say, its no good worrying yourself silly over something that you haven't been diagnosed with.  To have any form of CKD your bloods would need to show something consecutively like reduced kidney function for three months.  I have CKD stage 5 end stage and feel ok apart from feeling tired, I have just started peritoneal dialysis so hopefully should feel better soon.  Visit your GP and ask for advice before you start to worry.

Ivan, having swollen ankles is obviously a sign of fluid retention but it can have numerous causes, including heart problems, and can be caused by certain medications.  You could simply have a UTI (urine infection).  Certainly check it out with your GP but meanwhile if you add salt to your food or eat lots of salty foods such as bacon or processed meats, cut them ou - that will ease the fluid retention.  I have CKD3 but do not have swollen ankles.

Sorry, I forgot to add, my ankles (well, from the knee down, aloes to toes) all swell up in different sizes from a bit puffy to sometimes the right calf being 21 inches in circumference (that was the largest It ever went). Thought they were going to pop. As Mrs O said, try to cut out salt in your diet, look for lo sodium chicken (just an example) etc. as every bit less in intake helps reduce retention. We would need to know a lot more to conclude anything... Blood pressure history, fbc's, u&e's maybe an lft as well to build a picture. I would ask your doc for liver, kidney and full blood count, and also maybe a diabetic glucose test. You say you have a few extra pounds ans that can lead to diabetes / per diabetes with frequent urination being a symptom which you say you have. Don't know what diet you have, but if you eat a meal & desert, do you somethimes feel flushed, hot and shakes, bit like you're full of energy & want to shake it all out of you?

lastly, bubbly urine is nothing really, it's just the way your stream hits the water, like drop a stone in water you get a single bubble appear, but when peeing there's just more of them due to the way fluids interact on contact /force/speed etc.

    are you constantly thirsty too?
