20mg Citalopram since Aug, need reassurance

Hi, I've been taking 20mg of Citalopram since end of Aug for Anxiety and Low Mood. I've had some really great weeks, but find every few weeks my mood seems to drop and I feel fearful for no reason. I don't seem to have any control over it and it just seems to happen out of the blue, it can last a couple days or longer. Is this still normal? I'm still worried this is never going to go away. Thank you D Citalopram

Hi Lorraine, I'm sorry to hear this, its awful isn't it? Its really strange, my mood can go up and down during one day!! Or its intermittent fine one day not the next. I find when I'm occupied I'm really good ie work or family, it's when I'm on my own or if I've got nothing planned I'm in my head lol I think it could be habitual thinking or a bit of OCD thinking, but struggling to change it. I had private counselling last year and try to follow the guidance but it's hard when you're feeling low. Is this how you find it? I started on 10mg for a few month then upped to 15mg and now 20mg, because I've had some really good weeks on this dose, my GP doesn't feel the need to increase, just to keep going with it!! D x
