21 and diagnosed with severe endometriosis.

I’m 21 years old and back in April 2017 I was diagnosed with a mass connected to my ovary. In January 2018 I was hospitalized for extreme pain. The pain was caused by a cyst popping underneath a very large (10cm) Endometrioma. The doctors want to remove the ovary that the endo is connected to, which is okay because it’s killed my ovary. The ovary no longer has eggs.. my question is when they do surgery to remove the endo and ovary how will it effect me? Will I still be able to have children? How long do I have before another endometrioma grows? Will they change there minds and do a full hysterectomy? I’m 21 and I’ve only been married a year. My spouse and I have talked and agree that after the surgery we are ready to have kids but if I can wait until after college I’d rather do that... help..

The happy part of this is that most women conceive only one egg at a time, so conception is still possible with one ovary. As to whether the docs might do a hysterectomy in your circumstance: only if things had gotten much much worse by the time they get in there. They are so loath to do them in women your age, even women who've had a kid, that it's almost impossible to persuade them to do one no matter how bad the pain.
There are no guarantees with endo. You & your husband should sit down with the docs & discuss your planned reproductive timeline. Feel free to ask for a pessimistic prognosis, or a very realistic one -- make sure docs understand that you don't want the rose-colored glasses version.
They may suggest any of a number of hormones/BCP after the surgery in an attempt to give your body a rest. Might not be a bad idea.
I hope all goes well for you.
