25mg sertraline

Hi, I was supposed to start taking 25mg of sertraline yesterday, but I'm so scared that I'll get bad side effects.. please need some reassurance that I'll be ok, and the side effects won't be that bad. I've read so many horrible stories and thats whats terrifying me... I really do want to get better, and I know medication the only way... Am I just been silly and it's just my anxiety making me think this way .. thanks

    I have taken my 5th sertraline tablet today and I was bed bound the first 3/4 days with feeling sick, spaced out and lost of apitite. also anexity can go up and down but stick to it for 2 weeks and see how you go I'm feeling better then I did since I first took it. Just keep positive thoughts in your mind easier said then done I no.

      Hi cloe46559, what mg are you taking ? I was prescribed 50mg. But my doctor said I could cut tablet in half and take 25mg. I've a tablet phobia and thats whats making the problem worse.. Thanks for your reply

      Im taking 50 mg my doctor just gave them to me without warning me of side effects and now long they will last. But from Adice from some nice people on here I now have positive thoughts about these tablets. Don't think to much of the side effects just take each day as it comes.

    Hiya the nauseous feeling has gone now I only started them today, I had a bite to eat and took my diazepam and I feel fine now just a strange tingly feeling in my hand but it's not painful its just weird feeling if that makes sense. I get panicy and then the anxiey makes me feel like I'm dying and I have every side effect going  the diazepam is helping that so I will be staying on it until the sertraline levels itself out.

      What mg of diazepam are you on and how often do

      U take it. Iv been given 2mg for as and when I need it so not to sure how bad I need to get before I take it. My whole right arm aches which panics me more.

      Also all I can manage to eat is 1-2 bananas and a slice of toast for the last week surely this is not good? I just don't feel hungry and the thought of food makes me feel sick

      2mg and I take it every day just until sertraline levels out. I take it round dinner time or first thing in morning. It's good to help you sleep if it's your first time but you need to have min 8 hours UNDISTURBED sleep otherwise you have no memory for a period of time and feel crap but I take it first thing in morning and am fine.

    Hi pebbles, in my own experience the side effects are only bad for some in the first stages (first two to three weeks) you might not get any side effects, you might get some.these meds work wounders for some people.give it your best shot and don't let others negative story's effect your chances of getting your health back.good luck and stick with it. X

    Thanks for all your replies. My partner thinks I took my 50mg tablet yesterday cos I promised I would,  but I really flushed down the toilet because I've been that scared to take it.. Now today I feel down for telling him lies.. I really don't  know what to do  ; 0 (

      Do as I have pebbles it seemed easier to swallow and get on with - I broke mine in half. I reassured myself that that way if I get side effects they won't be as bad, and I've heard others saying they started with 25 for a week or so before the full 50 x unfortunately for me I try to talk to the hubby and he doesn't really listen so I have been left to reading through forums and today finally plucked the courage to post on here.

    Hi pebbles I started on 100mg and went up to 200mg. This was for 10 months. All I suffered was insomnia. Have now reduced to 50mg and sleep pattern is returning. Everyone reacts differently for whatever reason it was prescribed. Be guided by your doctor or pharmacist. I wish you well.

    Did you take it pebbles? I must say I feel fine this morn and had a fab nights sleep for a change. Hope all is well x

    hi i have been on 50 then 75 + had a crap time time so i am coming off.i gave it a good shot (10 weeks).i have also been on fluoxetine (prozac) which a friend takes like smarties where as it sent my anx thro the roof - it kept me up for a week + that is after taking it for 3 days ! .My insomnia with sert did settle down after 7 weeks-that is the only good thing.My sex drive is NIL ,my pooh is still like slime (yuk),appetite has gone.BUT EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT,SO GO WITH THEM

      Does anyone know if anti sickness tablets will help the side effect of sertraline I can't seem to shift the nausea or headache. 

      Was on 50mg for just over a week and then doc upped to 100mg last week so been on sertraline for 3 weeks.
