I don't think there's much you can can do other than painkillers till its removed but speak to the hospital see if they can hurry things up. I know mine was treated really quickly cost it was so large and they were worried about what it was and it rupturing. I remember how uncomfortable it got, it actually tweaked my muscles.
I got sciatica after my op ironically. Once you've had surgery and recovered Pilates and core strengthening exercises will help but you have to ease yourself into any exercise. Good luck xx

Hi Katie,
I too had a 26cm cyst (they thought) was on my right ovary. I had surgery to remove it 14 days ago and it turns out, it wasn't attached to anything anymore.
I honestly didn't experience much in the way of symptons despite ours being the same size. I was definitely bloated, looked pregnant - but I chalked it up to weight gain in my stomach. I was fatigued but I also was working a lot. If I sneezed or coughed sometimes I would pee myself a little but again, it didn't hinder me from day-to-day life and I actually had no pain.
It's very possible it's pressing on a nerve. My kidneys were displaced and my spleen was enlarged from it pushing on a vein.
I would advise you to be very active in your case and explore your options. If you have the option, I highly recommend a Gyno Oncoligist Surgeon. They are the best in the field and because they also deal with cancer, I felt more piece of mind going to a specialist. They will also give you the best chance at saving your reproductive organs unless there is an underlying issue or suspion of malignancy. Mine was a fluid-filled benign cyst, and they removed it through a measly 3inch incision on my bikini line. It was still considered a lapartomy, but as close to keyhole surgery as she could have done. I will barely have a scar, and two weeks after the surgery, I am pretty pain-fee other than occasional shoot of pain here and there.
It took me two days to get a consult with my surgeron, who is one of the best in the state. They marked my case as urgent given the size, despite me not being in a lot of discomfort. I had surgery booked 12 days later. Not sure where you're located, but if you're in pain, I would push for a sooner consult. You don't necessarily have to go where your GP wants to refer you. I asked to be referred to a specific surgeron after doing my research.
Do they know what type of cyst? Did you have CT or an MRI?

I'm in Leicester UK, very slow medically wise. They suspect highly its dermoid, done a scan only since its all they do gp wise I've been told. I've pushed but getting nowhere, last time I had same thing, was quicker but I had better gp!!
They won't let me go specialist here unless private, which I looked has same waiting time .
Thanks for the help

Hi Katie
?I am also from Leicester UK! but living near Birmingham (UK) now. Not impressed with your wait for Gyn consult. NHS guidelines are that any lump (suspicious) should be investigated within 14 days for your first appointment. I had an appointment within that time. an ultrasound about 10 days later the a follow up appointment 7 days after that (including a bank holiday). When I asked when the op was likely to be he said 4-6 weeks. However, I had a phone call 2 days later saying pre-op the next week and op the following week. My cyst is also large (23 x 23 x 12) so maybe that is why. Having the op next Wednesday all being well.
?Might be worth telling them you could take a cancellation appointment at short notice if you are able. Which hospital do they do this at? General, Royal Infirmary or Glenfield- just curious
