27yo and diagnosed with osteoarthritis in both hips

Ever since I was 17yo I’ve experienced what I believed to be lower back pain. Throughout my life I’ve been to the doctor several times to investigate but the pain was always minor and the issue was never really pursued very far.

In the last two years the pain has been rapidly increasing and has finally reached a point where I cannot walk without a limp and feel constant pain through the day and night. I have a quarter of the mobility I used to have and now experience severe pain in the lower back, hip and groin area. I can no longer ride a bike, hike or drive for long periods of time.

When I went to the doctor to investigate these new developments it was first thought to be due to being flat footed and I was instructed to wear orthotics. When I came back and specifically requested X-ray’s the doctor received a report saying my back was fine but I had moderate to severe osteoarthritis in both of my hips. This seemed to come as a shock to both my doctor and the radiologist resulting in my referral to a specialist.

I am now waiting for an appointment with a specialist and will be arranging an appointment with a physiotherapist.

I’m currently 258lbs but have been dieting and am now dropping weight fast.

Not sure what I’m looking for by posting here, just opinion and advice perhaps? Thanks all.
