Hello!
I was wondering if there was anyone else out there my age who has gone through this. If so, did everything heal well?
I'm so thankful I stumbled across this forum since I was sent home with very little post op info.
I had a hysterectomy with tubes removed, ligament suspension, cystoscopy, and perennial repair.
I had a full pelvic floor prolapse after my daughter's birth 19 months ago. It's been a nightmare really. This surgery and recovery is much more painful than I anticipated.

You are young so I'm sure you will heal well but in order for your major surgery to be a success you must rest as much as possible although with young children it isn't always easy.
I mentioned only yesterday I was saddened to read so many ladies are sent home with little or no information so tell us what you were told and we'll fill in the blanks.
To add jes this surgery can be painful so don't be a martyr and take your pain medication regularly, don't wait until the pain is unbearable. It will take time so remember this is a great forum and just ask any questions you may have.

I'm really fortunate to have help lined up for the next 6 weeks. My parents, in laws, and other family will be in and out to help with my kids and home. My husband has been really great so far, we'll see how long his patience lasts. After that I'll be on my own to manage the house and our upcoming move across country. (US here)
I am pretty much staying in bed and only shuffling around here and there. I am on top of my meds since I am most definitely NOT a martyr! Ha! My bowl movements leave me in tears and I'm on 3 different stool softeners twice a day.
I am very active, a runner and do yoga, and was told by 3 weeks I can jog again. I was shocked and after my reading on here I'm thinking that'd be a bad idea. I wasn't advised on any pelvic floor exercises and was really only told no lifting over 5lbs for 6 weeks. That I can begin walking for exercise 2 weeks post op and jogging 3 weeks. I'll be seen at 5 weeks for a check up and then sent on my way.
I'm truly terrified of doing something wrong and undoing all the surgery.

I am 10 days post op for my TVTO and anterior/posterior repair. I am 62 and a runner. I have been told around 3 months for running, depending on my progress and walking slowly building up to 30 minutes by 2-3 weeks. Pelvic floor to leave and resume at six weeks.
Bowl motions have settled down and I was advised to buy a squatting potty which has helped. Basically a stool making sure your knees are higher than your hips and you bend forward.
Specialist has told me to lay down flat when I can with a pillow under knees and use a heat pad on tummy for pain, taken pain killers when needed. This takes weight off pelvic floor.
I have overdone things on a few occasions and paid, but today has been my best day and taken no pain killers. Really frustrating as I feel well in myself, but trying to be sensible. Hubby gone back to work and so managing with friends popping around.
I would be careful about resuming exercise so early, as its major surgery and just because you can't see the wounds they need time to heal. Do make dure you drink plenty and this helps aid recovery.
Wish you all the best.

I'm feeling much better now and have really turned a corner. I have slowly built my walking back up and am doing 2 'miles a day. Managing the house and kids ok but not lifting anything heavy or hoovering. Hoping to get back out on my bike in the next few weeks.
Good luck with the rest of your recovery, these ops even in younger women seem more and more common these days, since I told my friends it's surprising how many of them have similar problems but just not been to see there GP yet!
I have my post op check on Wednesday.
Was your hysterectomy done abdominaly or vaginaly?

It's really good to hear a younger women healing well from this. My surgery was all vaginally. I'm thankful they were able to do that.
When did you begin walking?
I'm realizing now how optimistic most doctors are in regards to how quickly we'd bounce back from this.

Before I walked I got a tenna lady which I covered in water then
put in the freezer and when I got back I put it on nd it really did reduce the swelling, which I think you get such a lot of when you've had so much vaginal surgery.
I also have only just stopped bleeding/discharge and that has made me quite sore. Has yours stopped yet? X

I'm thinking I will wait for any real walking until 3 or 4 weeks. We live in a very hilly area and I don't want to accidently over do it.
It's very encouraging to hear that by 6 weeks things are better. My poor toddler misses mom doing it all already.
