2nd hip replacement

Went through my right thr 2 years after having a Left thr.

Recovery was amazing 1 week ahead of where I was last time round.

Back at work 3 weeks following my op (no sticks)driving after 6 weeks and absolutely pain free now 7 weeks after the op.

These surgeons are amazing, bow do thank them for giving you back your quality of life?

I agree totally. Their contribution to our well-being is huge.

Money can't buy the quality of life that is restored by a total hip replacement.

I suppose they get a thrill from seeing a patient walk out of their hospital without limping.

That must be real job satisfaction!

Yes I guess so but I feel so humble as I can lift and carry my grandchildren again and work out in the garden which were 2 things that really got me down when pain was at its worst.

    Was that 2nd op posterior?

My surgeon said yesterday at my 6 week check that he couldn't difine the trouser seam line from the scar & I said that myself from the dressing came off. So neat & tidy. And all that old pain gone. Having 2nd hip done end of January 2 weeks after I turn 50. I'm actually looking forward to it & my new lease of life. Great to hear other people's good news stories. X

I have 18 months between 1st and 2 nd hip ops.

you were 2 years. Our first hips had full recovery

time. Unfortunately some people have to have their

2nd ops very quickly after the first, and especially where

it is uncemented, it might not be fully integrated (or

whatever it is called when we grow into our spare part)

I am 5 weeks now,  but not crutch free yet.. Work in

    progress. Well done to you,

    Cathie

you are right cathie .... had 2nd THR within 6 months after 1st one and feel as if I am finally on the road to full recovery - leaps and bounds and confused at times which leg/hip is the "old" one ...

right now, at 9 weeks of 2nd THR I feel as if I am having a relapse of some sort - cannot lift left (new) leg more than 3 cm - so no driving again as I don't trust myself being able to do the emergency stop ...
