2ND Hip Surgery Jitters

Posted , 3 users are following.

Hello new here. I am 36 considering a second hip surgery, had one at 13 years old. I am suffering everyday. Glad to hear i can probably resume work soon after the surgery. How long is the surgery is it a day surgery? Being that i had a hip surgery before do you all think this second one will help? My mobility is horrible, I cannot sit criss cross applesauce, walk long distances, and even opening my legs for hanky panky is no longer possible. That depresses me.

very sorry you have had this issue. it is extremely painful. once you have surgery in approx 6-8 months recovery is generally maxed thru most healing stages. long term recovery is up to a year. at 36 you have your age and in good shape for a better quicker recovery. this sounds like this surgery is to replace the primary hip components referred to as a revision. as you know this is a tough .in the long run improved mobility and a better quality of life is the outcome.

i've been thru 3 hip replacement surgeries and its so much better to go thru a revision than the worry, pain, and lack of mobility . it will improve your current quality of life.

    good vibes sent your way.

its not day surgery, that was tried out by NHS during the pandemic and caused more problems than it solved. You can expect to stay in 1-3 nights, i was lucky and had only 1 night with my left THR just before Easter. i suggest you go on Youtube and look up the exercises to do before your op. do them every day as it makes recovery after the op faster as you don't lose so much muscle tone. i had my THR on a Wednesday and was back at work, desk job, the following Tuesday and only had 2 working days off.
