2nd Op Completed

Hi everyone

I have posted a couple of times over the summer. I am a 42 year male and after putting off the inevitable for a few years decided to have both hips replaced over the summer. On Friday I had a THR on the right side 27 days after the same op on the left ! As some of you may have seen from my last post I was a bit daunted with doing it so close but I think I would have been daunted whenever the second one took place.

I am glad to say that the the second operation has gone well and am home and reasonably mobile. There doesn not seem to be as much pain as the first time around which may be due to a number of factors.

I was pretty groggy after teh forst one and was able to explain this in detail to the aneasthetist who did a great job and I was awake and alert a coupel of hours after the operation without any sicknesss.

For anyone thinking about having both done it is definately worth considering if its right for you. Having support at home is really helpful. There is a downside in that I am uncomfortaable on both sides but it is easily manageable.

Now is the processs of building up the walking distances and focus on going back to work hopefully in 6 weeks!

Thanks and good luck to everyone

steve

      Hi Ian97093

Thanks for your many positive and informative posts, I can see why you are rated as Gurocool.

I am due RTHR next month which may be delayed due to DVT.

Had Prostate Cancer last year but now have PSA down to 1.o.

Hi Steve. I'm 49and had my right hip replacement end of May have a MRI this Saturday then find out if I have a repair or a replacement on the left. But will have to have some sort of surgery. Hope to find out before the end of the month before I go on my holidays so I can try and relax for a couple of weeks. Then return to my second op.

keep in touch how you are doing in your recovery so I know what's coming. Take care.
