I'm a couple of days into my second OB too. I'd hoped I would be some miraculous case who never got it again but not so!

I didn't feel any tingling or anything before it really, but I was out over the weekend and drank a fair bit of wine... Although I've had a few drinks since I first got the virus almost three mths ago this was the first time I'd drank quite a bit so it seems that may have played a part, or maybe it was nothing to do with that!

This time all I got is one tiny spot you can barely see but can feel, an itch and a bit of tenderness around the area for a couple of days... I didn't bother with any medication and it feels like it's going already.

I'm upset in a way because having an OB is a reminder of this bloody curse, you just start to feel semi normal and then it creeps up on you as a reminder but at the same time if this is all an OB is then I'm pretty blessed. My first one was pretty sore and this is nothing in comparison. It's the mental part though more than physical.. There's really no forgetting the curse sad

That's how my recurrences generally are (except the one time I had a bad cold). No real warning but very mild and self-limiting, even without meds, which is great, all things considered. The first few recurrences do bum you out because of the reminder, but you're soon able to just brush it off. My last recurrence healed as quickly as it appeared, possibly due to acyclovir cream (not ointment; that's better suited for first outbreaks), which I decided to try. Still no oral meds, only vitamins, etc.

When my infection was newish, I think alcohol may have triggered something, too, but not anymore, touch wood. I recently got well trashed by accident, lol, and noticed nothing unusual despite making it home in a complete daze and hurling twice in the middle of the night. :x Ugh, most unpleasant and not had that happen to me in years! But no herpes recurrence! :D

Yeah it really was very mild which is great, it came on Wednesday and is gone now. I had also stopped taking the lysine and echinacea which I wonder if that affected it at all... I guess I'll take it easy on the vino the next few months and see if anything else recurs, and if it does I'll start the lysine etc again and see if it helps.

Not sure if you saw my other post but I've had these little bumps like bites that popped up over the two days, they weren't around the genitals, more my tummy, back and top of thighs. They came and went within a couple of hours and there was only a few, not clusters or anything... I can't be definite that they are related but I've never had anything similar before so I really think they must be connected. They weren't open sores, had no head or pus or anything, just an itchy bump and then gone. would you think that would mean I'd be shedding from those areas too? That's a worry if most of the trunk of my body is shedding!

That's way too fast for herpes, so I seriously doubt that it's herpes or that it contains any virus. Sounds more like hives or some other allergic-like reaction. Yeah, go easy on the alcohol for the first few months, then slowly go back up and see what happens. Are you on multivitamins? That's a good all-rounder to take, plus I usually pop a vitamin C tablet if I'm planning a night out, although I forgot that particular night and was still okay, puking aside!

They were exactly like small hives but they disappeared after about 3 hours, I've never had hives do that. Timing was just strange but it is probably unrelated... You know yourself you start thinking everything and anything is herpes related when you are mid OB!

I am a vegetarian so take a cocktail of vitamins just to make sure I'm not missing out on anything, B12, Vit D, iron, fish oils ... And I had been taking the lysine and echinacea for a while.

It totally cleared up within three days which was amazing anyway... The universe's way of telling me not to binge drink! ??

I have an allergy and when I occasionally get hives, they are very temporary. Gone in less than 3 hours for sure, so it's very possible that's all it was. Ah, good, you are doing the multivitamin thing for overall health. That's more important than taking lysine, imo, and I'm sure you'll be able to have a boozy night out again in due course, lol. Good to let loose and have fun!

I have a question is it possible to Nt give ur partner da virus
    • Posted

Yes, sure. By avoiding sex during outbreaks (and any suspected outbreaks), using condoms consistently, and taking the meds daily as suppressive therapy. The first year of infection is the most infectious, so extra care should be taken during that time. The general transmission rate from women to men is not high, and with all of the above precautions, it's practically negligible.

Three weeks later and another OB! sad I have been stressed to the max with work but am more gutted now to have another so regular. I went over 2 months between my first and second OB so thought I was one of the lucky ones. I have been eating well and not drinking too much at all but maybe the stress is a factor. It's weird, you think sure why would a big if worry and busy times in work affect this ... And then it does! Stupid damn virus!

Oh, that sucks. rolleyes What are your recurrences like? Do you have lesions? My first couple were vague, and to this day, I still don't know if they were actually recurrences! I've since had more definite ones, but still largely mild (single lesion), thankfully.

In a study or two, regular stress was actually *not* found to be a trigger unless severe and prolonged, so it could well be that your recurrences happened just because. Except for one time when I came down with a bad cold, I never noticed any real association with mine.

They are so so mild, the first recurrence was one tiny spot barely able to see but could be felt... Had some sensitivity around the area and sore to wipe but absolutely nothing else and only lasted a few days. This one is one absolutely tiny paper cut type thing like I got on my first OB and that's all... Except it's further back so each time I poop it's sore to wipe but again that's all, absolutely nothing life altering pain wise - but three weeks part is way too regular for me!

That's good yours are mild, too! Yeah, mine have been much the same way. Just sore to wipe (not noticeable otherwise), and if I look, I can usually find a small lesion, which typically heals in a handful of days at most. Frequency should drop off with time, so give it a few more months!

Are your recurrences about a week before your period by any chance? I keep a calendar of sorts and only realised today that my recurrences are actually relatively frequent after all, lol, although they don't feel like they are, which is weird, but I digress...

Anyway, I also noticed that most of mine (not all) have occurred a full week before my period. I never noticed any potential pattern until now, and only looked at the various dates today because I noticed a developing sore last night whilst wiping, which got me thinking. Ugh, not happy if mine are linked to menstruation!
